Review
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a class of natural drugs with multiple components and significant therapeutic effects through multiple targets. It also originates from a wide range of sources containing plants, animals and minerals, and among them, plant-based Chinese medicine also includes fungi. Fungal traditional Chinese medicine is a medicinal resource with a long history and widespread application in China. Accumulating evidence confirms that polysaccharide is the main pharmacodynamic material on which fungal TCM is based. The purpose of the current systematic review is to summarize the extraction, isolation, structural identification, biological functions, quality control and medicinal and edible applications of polysaccharides from fungal TCM in the past three years. This paper will supplement and deepen the understanding and application of polysaccharides from fungal TCM, and propose some valuable insights for further research and development of drugs and functional foods.

Review
This systematic review seeks to highlight, from the published literature about the extraction and application of lemon by-products rich in flavonoids, which works use environmentally friendly technologies and solvents and which ones propose a potentially functional food application, according to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). WoS and SCOPUS were used as scientific databases for searching the documents, which were evaluated through 10 quality questions according to their adherence to our purpose (5 questions evaluating papers devoted to lemon flavonoid extraction and 5 concerning the application of such by-products in new foods). Each question was evaluated as "Yes", "No", or "does Not refer", according to its adherence to our aim. The analysis reported 39 manuscripts related to lemon flavonoid extraction; 89% of them used green technologies and solvents. On the other hand, 18 manuscripts were related to the incorporation of lemon by-products into new foods, of which 41% adhered to our purpose and only 35% evaluated the functionality of such incorporation. Conclusively, although the bibliography is extensive, there are still some gaps for further investigation concerning the extraction and application of lemon by-products to reduce food losses in an environmentally friendly way and the possible development of new functional foods, which must be performed following the SDGs.

Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND
This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of Tongxinluo capsule (TXLC) in combination with conventional therapies for treating stable angina pectoris (SAP) through a comprehensive meta-analysis and systematic review.
METHODS
We conducted a systematic search of the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, VIP, PubMed, Embase, and CENTRAL databases for randomized controlled trials investigating the use of TXLC as adjuvant therapy for SAP published up to June 2023. The Cochrane Handbook was used to evaluate the risk of bias. Meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.4.1, and publication bias was assessed using Begg test and Egger test in the Stata SE 12.0 software. GRADEpro was used to assess the quality of the evidence.
RESULTS
This meta-analysis included 26 randomized controlled trials with a total of 2352 patients. TXLC co-administration demonstrated significant reduction in angina attack frequency (mean difference (MD) -0.91, 95% confidence interval (CI) -0.97 to -0.84, P < .00001) and duration (MD -1.71, 95% CI -2.24 to -1.19, P < .00001), decreased use of nitroglycerin tablets (MD -6.28, 95% CI -7.16 to -5.41, P < .00001), lowered C-reactive protein (MD -1.19, 95% CI -1.35 to -1.03, P < .00001) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (MD -0.68, 95% CI -0.86 to -0.51, P < .00001). TXLC co-administration did not increase gastrointestinal reactions (RR 1.17, 95% CI 0.38 to 3.57, P = .78). The Begg test and Egger test results indicated no publication bias. The evidence quality was rated as very low for frequency of angina attack, duration of angina attack, and nitroglycerin usage, and low for C-reactive protein, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, and gastrointestinal reaction events.
CONCLUSION
This meta-analysis supports TXLC as a beneficial adjunct treatment for SAP.

Review
Cassava ( Crantz) is considered one of the essential tuber crops, serving as a dietary staple food for various populations. This systematic review provides a comprehensive summary of the nutritional and therapeutic properties of cassava, which is an important dietary staple and traditional medicine. The review aims to evaluate and summarize the phytochemical components of cassava and their association with pharmacological activities, traditional uses, and nutritional importance in global food crises. To collect all relevant information, electronic databases; Cochrane Library, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Preprint Platforms were searched for studies on cassava from inception until October 2022. A total of 1582 studies were screened, while only 34 were included in this review. The results of the review indicate that cassava has diverse pharmacological activities, including anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-diarrheal, anti-inflammatory, hypocholesterolemic effects, and wound healing properties. However, more studies that aim to isolate the phytochemicals in cassava extracts and evaluate their pharmacological property are necessary to further validate their medical and nutritional values.

Meta-Analysis
OBJECTIVE
Oxaliplatin is a first-line chemotherapy drug for the treatment of colorectal cancer, but its induced oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neurotoxicity (OIPN) affect the chemotherapy process and quality of life of tumor patients. OIPN is a serious and potentially permanent side effect of cancer treatment. Currently, no unified standard has been established for preventing and treating OIPN in Western medicine. Therefore, it is very important to seek effective prevention and treatment measures. Many clinical trials have reported that Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction can effectively prevent OIPN, but substantial evidence base to support this treatment is lacking. We collected existing literature and evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction for OIPN by performing a meta-analysis.
METHODS
We systematically searched China National Knowledge Internet (CNKI), VIP, Wan Fang Database, Pubmed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library from inception through to Oct 2022 to identify only randomized controlled trials examining the prevention of OIPN using Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction. This search was supplemented by manual retrieval, including dissertations and conference papers. All data were analyzed using RevMan 5.3 software.
RESULTS
A total of 18 papers involving 564 patients in the treatment group and 523 patients in the control group were included. A total of 17 articles reported the overall incidence of peripheral neurotoxicity (I² = 0%), and the overall incidence of peripheral neurotoxicity in the treatment group was 0.27 times higher than in the control group (95% CI: 0.20-0.36). A total of 16 articles reported the incidence of level III-IV severe peripheral neurotoxicity (I² = 0%), which was 0.16 times higher in the treatment group than in the control group (95% CI: 0.09-0.32). In the Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu VS no-interference subgroup, it showed that the incidence of severe peripheral neurotoxicity in the treat group was significantly lower than in the control group (OR:0.13, 95% CI:0.06-0.28). But in the Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu VS west medicine therapy subgroup, no significant difference between Huangqi Quizhi Wuwu and conventional Western medicine was observed for the prevention and treatment of severe OIPN (OR:0.37, 95% CI:0.09-1.53). A total of 2 articles were reported median nerve conduction velocity (I² = 51.2%); and no significant difference was found between the treatment and control groups (SMD: 1.43; 95% CI: 0.80-2.08); 4 studies showed Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction did not increase the incidence of chemotherapy-related adverse reactions and was safe.
CONCLUSIONS
Our current findings support the application of Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction for the clinical prevention and treatment of patients with OIPN. However, high-quality RCT research is still needed to further exploration. The potential impact of Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction on the quality of life or treatment compliance of cancer patients needs further research.

Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND
Caffeic acid tablets (CFA) are a proprietary Chinese medicine in treating thrombocytopenia. The efficacy and safety of CFA compared with other platelet-raising drugs for the treatment of thrombocytopenia have been widely reported in the literature, but there is no systematic evaluation. Therefore, we designed this meta-analysis to further establish the efficacy and safety of CFA in treating thrombocytopenia.
METHODS
A computerized search was conducted in the Chinese biomedical database (CBM), Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database, Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP), PubMed, and Web of Science databases using the keywords "caffeic acid tablets" and "thrombocytopenia." All randomized controlled trials were selected for the timeframe of build to 02/2023 and then screened and analyzed using RevMan 5.4 and stata17.0 software.
RESULTS
A total of 35 publications with an overall 2533 patients were included in the study. The results of the meta-analysis showed that CFA were effective in the treatment of thrombocytopenia with a statistically significant difference [relative risk ratio (RR) = 1.24, 95% CI (1.17, 1.31), P < .00001] and in increasing platelet counts [standardized mean difference (SMD) = 1.50, 95% CI (1.09, 1.91), P < .00001], white blood cell count [SMD = 1.08, 95% CI (0.77, 1.39), P < .00001], and neutrophil count [SMD = 0.73, 95% CI (0.19, 1.28), P = .009], and CFA reduced myelosuppression [RR = 0.19, 95% CI (0.1, 0.37), P < .00001] and adverse effects [RR = 0.75, 95% CI (0.58, 0.96), P = .02].
CONCLUSION
CFA can effectively improve the clinical outcome of patients with thrombocytopenia with a good safety profile and are worth promoting. However, due to the low quality and small sample size of the included literature, a larger sample size and more standardized, high-quality studies are needed to validate these results.

Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND
Xiao-ai-ping injection (XAPI) combined with chemotherapy has potential efficacy and less side effects in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). At present, there are many clinical studies on XAPI combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of NSCLC, but the results are different. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of XAPI combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of NSCLC by meta-analysis system.
METHODS
The databases to be searched include PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, Wanfang database, Chinese Scientific Journal Database, and so on. In addition, relevant journals and magazines will manually search in various fields as supplements. The search date is set from the establishment of the database until July 8, 2023. The 2 researchers will use Endnote X9 software for literature screening and data extraction and independently evaluate the quality. We then assessed the quality and risk of inclusion in the study and observed outcome indicators.
RESULTS
A total of 28 trials were included in this study, 1947 patients with NSCLC (974 receiving XAPI combined chemotherapy and 973 receiving chemotherapy alone). The results of meta-analysis showed that: Objective tumor response rate of NSCLC (P < .00001). Improvement in Karnofsky performance score of NSCLC (P < .00001). Quality of life score of NSCLC (P < .00001). The result of CD3 + (P < .00001). The result of CD4 + (P < .00001). The result of CD8 + (P < .00001). The result of CD4+/CD8 + (P = .0001). Leukopenia (P < .00001). Thrombocytopenia (P < .00001). Hemoglobin decrease (P < .00001). Liver function (P = .04). Nausea and vomiting (P < .00001).
CONCLUSION
Our meta-analyses demonstrated that XAPI adjunct with chemotherapy can improve the patient quality of life, reduce adverse reactions, and enhanced immune function, the treatment is effective and high safety. Which suggests that it might be used for NSCLC. However, a large sample of randomized controlled trials are needed to further study the long-term efficacy of XAPI.

is traditionally used to prevent and treat some diseases such as liver disorders, hypertension, insomnia, diabetes, and cancer. spore extracts are also reported to share similar bioactivities as extracts from its other parts. However, there is no systematic review that elucidates its pharmacological effect. Our aim is to comprehensively summarise current evidence of spore extracts to clarify its benefits to be applied in further studies. We searched five primary databases: PubMed, Virtual Health Library (VHL), Global Health Library (GHL), System for Information on Grey Literature in Europe (SIGLE), and Google Scholar on September 13, 2021. Articles were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. A manual search was applied to find more relevant articles. Ninety studies that reported the pharmacological effects and/or safety of spores were included in this review. The review found that spore extracts showed quite similar effects as other parts of this medicinal plant including anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant effects, and immunomodulation. sporoderm-broken extract demonstrated higher efficiency than unbroken spore extract. extracts also showed their effects on some genes responsible for the body's metabolism, which implied the benefits in metabolic diseases. The safety of should be investigated in depth as high doses of the extract could increase levels of cancer antigen (CA)72-4, despite no harmful effect shown on body organs. Generally, there is a lot of potential in the studies of compounds with pharmacological effects and new treatments. Sporoderm breaking technique could contribute to the production of extracts with more effective prevention and treatment of diseases. High doses of spore extract should be used with caution as there was a concern about the increase in CA.

Review
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid extracted from the cannabis plant that is used for medicinal purposes. Ingestion of CBD is claimed to address several pathologies, including gastrointestinal disorders, although limited evidence has been generated thus far to substantiate many of its health claims. Nevertheless, CBD usage as an over-the-counter treatment for gastrointestinal disorders is likely to expand in response to increasing commercial availability, permissive legal status, and acceptance by consumers. This systematic review critically evaluates the knowledge boundaries of the published research on CBD, intestinal motility, and intestinal motility disorders. Research on CBD and intestinal motility is currently limited but does support the safety and efficacy of CBD for several therapeutic applications, including seizure disorders, inflammatory responses, and upper gastrointestinal dysfunction (i.e., nausea and vomiting). CBD, therefore, may have therapeutic potential for addressing functional gastrointestinal disorders. The results of this review show promising and preclinical data supporting a role of CBD in intestinal motility. This includes improved gastrointestinal-related outcomes in murine models of colitis. These studies, however, vary by dose, delivery method, and CBD-extract composition. Clinical trials have yet to find a conclusive benefit of CBD on intestinal motility disorders, but these trials have been limited in scope. In addition, critical factors such as CBD dosing parameters have not yet been established. Further research will establish the efficacy of CBD in applications to address intestinal motility.
