INTRODUCTION
Equid herpesvirus type 8 (EqHV-8) poses a significant threat to equine health, leading to miscarriages and respiratory diseases in horses and donkeys, and results in substantial economic losses in the donkey industry. Currently, there are no effective drugs or vaccines available for EqHV-8 infection control.
METHODS
In this study, we investigated the and antiviral efficacy of Blebbistatin, a myosin II ATPase inhibitor, against EqHV-8.
RESULTS
Our results demonstrated that Blebbistatin significantly inhibited EqHV-8 infection in Rabbit kidney (RK-13) and Madin-Darby Bovine Kidney (MDBK) cells in a concentration-dependent manner. Notably, Blebbistatin was found to disrupt EqHV-8 infection at the entry stage by modulating myosin II ATPase activity. Moreover, experiments revealed that Blebbistatin effectively reduced EqHV-8 replication and mitigated lung pathology in a mouse model.
CONCLUSION
Collectively, these findings suggest that Blebbistatin holds considerable potential as an antiviral agent for the control of EqHV-8 infection, presenting a novel approach to addressing this veterinary challenge.

BACKGROUND
Subchorionic hematoma (SCH) is a common complication in early pregnancy characterized by the accumulation of blood between the uterine wall and the chorionic membrane. SCH can lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes such as miscarriage, preterm birth, and other complications. Early detection and accurate assessment of SCH are crucial for appropriate management and improved pregnancy outcomes.
AIM
To evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of virtual organ computer-assisted analysis (VOCAL) in measuring the volume ratio of SCH to gestational sac (GS) combined with serum progesterone on early pregnancy outcomes in patients with SCH.
METHODS
A total of 153 patients with SCH in their first-trimester pregnancies between 6 and 11 wk were enrolled. All patients were followed up until a gestational age of 20 wk. The parameters of transvaginal two-dimensional ultrasound, including the circumference of SCH (Cs), surface area of SCH (Ss), circumference of GS (Cg), and surface area of GS (Sg), and the parameters of VOCAL with transvaginal three-dimensional ultrasound, including the three-dimensional volume of SCH (3DVs) and GS (3DVg), were recorded. The size of the SCH and its ratio to the GS size (Cs/Cg, Ss/Sg, 3DVs/3DVg) were recorded and compared.
RESULTS
Compared with those in the normal pregnancy group, the adverse pregnancy group had higher Cs/Cg, Ss/Sg, and 3DVs/3DVg ratios ( < 0.05). When 3DVs/3DVg was 0.220, the highest predictive performance predicted adverse pregnancy outcomes, resulting in an AUC of 0.767, and the sensitivity, specificity were 70.2%, 75% respectively. VOCAL measuring 3DVs/3DVg combined with serum progesterone gave a diagnostic AUC of 0.824 for early pregnancy outcome in SCH patients, with a high sensitivity of 82.1% and a specificity of 72.1%, which showed a significant difference between AUC.
CONCLUSION
VOCAL-measured 3DVs/3DVg effectively quantifies the severity of SCH, while combined serum progesterone better predicts adverse pregnancy outcomes.

The etiology of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is complex and multifactorial and in half of patients it remains unexplained (U-RPL). Recently, low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) has gained increasing relevance for its therapeutic potential. On this regard, the aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to analyze the efficacy of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) from the beginning of pregnancy in terms of live birth rates (LBR) in U-RPL. Registered randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included. We stratified findings based on relevant clinical factors including number of previous miscarriages, treatment type and control type. Intervention or exposure was defined as the administration of LMWH alone or in combination with low-dose aspirin (LDA). A total of 6 studies involving 1016 patients were included. The meta-analysis results showed that LMWH used in the treatment of U-RPL was not associated with an increase in LBR with a pooled OR of 1.01, a medium heterogeneity (26.42%) and no publication bias. Results of other sub-analyses according to country, treatment type, and control type showed no significant effect of LMWH on LBR in all subgroups, with a high heterogeneity. The results highlight a non-significant effect of LMWH in U-RPL on LBR based on moderate quality evidence.Registration number: PROSPERO: ( https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?ID=CRD42022326433 ).

BACKGROUND
Unexplained recurrent implantation failure and the high cost of assisted reproductive techniques for those experiencing infertility have increasingly resulted in the use of acupuncture. However, the trends and research status of acupuncture on infertility resulting in natural conception have not been systematically summarized. This scoping review and knowledge graph analysis aimed to summarize existing clinical studies on acupuncture for infertility that resulted in natural conception.
METHODS
Seven databases, namely, PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP, Wanfang Data, and SinoMed, were searched up to August 2023 (updated on 1 April). Two authors independently identified related clinical studies and systematic reviews, and extracted data from included studies on acupuncture for infertility; any discrepancies were resolved by discussion or judged by a third author. A meta-analysis was conducted based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and data were synthesized using risk ratios with 95% confidence intervals.
RESULTS
Of the 310 articles meeting the inclusion criteria, 274 were primary studies, 7 were systematic reviews, and 29 were case reports. Reported adverse events included mild ovarian irritation and early signs of miscarriage. Out of the 274 primary studies, there were 40 (14.60%) cases of male infertility and 234 (85.40%) cases of female infertility. Current research highlights on acupuncture for infertility focused on female infertility caused by polycystic ovary syndrome, ovulation disorder, and luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome (LUFS), while acupuncture for male infertility was a hotspot in the early research stage. The meta-analysis also suggested that acupuncture was more effective than human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) [RR = 1.89, 95% CI (1.47, 2.42), 11 RCTs, 662 participants]. Acupuncture combined with HCG was comparable to HCG [RR = 2.33, 95% CI (1.53, 3.55), four RCTs, 259 participants]. Compared with no treatment, acupuncture resulted in a higher pregnancy rate [RR = 22.12, 95% CI (1.39, 353.09), one RCT, 47 participants]. There was no statistical difference between acupuncture combined with HCG plus letrozole and HCG plus letrozole [RR = 1.56, 95% CI (0.84, 2.89), one RCT, 84 participants].
CONCLUSION
Current research highlights on acupuncture for infertility resulting in natural conception focused on female infertility caused by polycystic ovary syndrome, ovulation disorder, and LUFS, while studies on male infertility and female infertility caused by blockage in the fallopian tube, thin endometrium, and other factors were insufficient. Well-designed confirmatory clinical studies are still needed as the research hypotheses of most studies were unclear.

The dromedary camel () fetal membranes, commonly referred to as "the placenta", are epitheliochorial, diffuse, and microcotyledonary, similarly to the mare's placenta. The evaluation of the placenta is an essential component of the neonatal evaluation in the equine species. However, post-partum or post-abortion placental assessment in dromedary camels is unfortunately too frequently neglected and, to the best of the authors' knowledge, the dromedary camel species lacks a comprehensive description of the normal placenta's gross morphology. In order to facilitate its on-field evaluation, the current study describes the macroscopic features of the placenta of the dromedary camel after full-term pregnancy and spontaneous parturition.

BACKGROUND
IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common cause of primary glomerulonephritis, with complex pathogenic mechanisms involving abnormal B-cell activation. As a novel biologic agent, telitacicept inhibits both B-lymphocyte stimulating factor and a proliferation-inducing ligand. It also inhibits both B cells and plasma cells and the production of galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) and its autoantibodies, thus exerting an immunosuppressive effect. Women with IgAN are at a higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes such as preeclampsia and miscarriage, especially those with uncontrolled massive proteinuria and advanced chronic kidney disease. Therefore, IgAN disease control before and during pregnancy is essential. Here, we report the case of a woman with IgAN who had a successful pregnancy with significant improvement and long-term remission after treatment with telitacicept. This is the first report of a pregnancy following exposure to telitacicept.
CONCLUSION
This report describes the efficacy of telitacicept in patients with IgAN and explores its value in women of childbearing age, suggesting effective and safe treatment options for women who wish to conceive.

IMPORTANCE
Many studies have reported that the interpregnancy interval (IPI) is a potential modifiable risk factor for adverse perinatal outcomes. However, the association between IPI after live birth and subsequent spontaneous abortion (SA) is unclear.
OBJECTIVE
To investigate the association of IPI after a healthy live birth and subsequent SA.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS
This prospective cohort study used data from 180 921 women aged 20 to 49 years who had a single healthy live birth and planned for another pregnancy and who participated in the Chinese National Free Prepregnancy Checkups Project from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2020. Statistical analysis was conducted from June 20 to October 5, 2023.
EXPOSURE
Interpregnancy interval, defined as the interval between the delivery date and conception of the subsequent pregnancy, was categorized as follows: less than 18 months, 18 to 23 months, 24 to 35 months, 36 to 59 months, and 60 months or longer.
MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES
The main outcome was SA. Multivariable-adjusted odds ratios (ORs) were calculated by logistic regression models to examine the association between IPI and the risk of SA. Dose-response associations were evaluated by restricted cubic splines.
RESULTS
The analyses included 180 921 multiparous women (mean [SD] age at current pregnancy, 26.3 [2.8] years); 4380 SA events (2.4% of all participants) were recorded. A J-shaped association between IPI levels and SA was identified. In the fully adjusted model, compared with IPIs of 18 to 23 months, both short (<18 months) and long (≥36 months) IPIs showed an increased risk of SA (IPIs of <18 months: OR, 1.15 [95% CI, 1.04-1.27]; IPIs of 36-59 months: OR, 1.28 [95% CI, 1.15-1.43]; IPIs of ≥60 months: OR, 2.13 [95% CI, 1.78-2.56]). Results of the subgroup analysis by mode of previous delivery were consistent with the main analysis.
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE
This cohort study of multiparous women suggests that an IPI of shorter than 18 months or an IPI of 36 months or longer after a healthy live birth was associated with an increased risk of subsequent SA. The findings are valuable to make a rational prepregnancy plan and may facilitate the prevention of SA and improvement in neonatal outcomes.

OBJECTIVE
This study aimed to identify predictors associated with thyroid function and thromboelastograph (TEG) examination parameters and establish a nomogram for predicting the risk of subsequent pregnancy loss in recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL).
METHODS
In this retrospective study, we analyzed the medical records of 575 RPL patients treated at Lanzhou University Second Hospital, China, between September 2020 and December 2022, as a training cohort. We also included 272 RPL patients from Ruian People's Hospital between January 2020 and July 2022 as external validation cohort. Predictors included pre-pregnancy thyroid function and TEG examination parameters. The study outcome was pregnancy loss before 24 weeks of gestation. Variable selection was performed using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and stepwise regression analyses, and the prediction model was developed using multivariable logistic regression. The study evaluated the model's performance using the area under the curve (AUC), calibration curve, and decision curve analysis. Additionally, dynamic and static nomograms were constructed to provide a visual representation of the models.
RESULTS
The predictors used to develop the model were body mass index, previous pregnancy losses, triiodothyronine, free thyroxine, thyroid stimulating hormone, lysis at 30 minutes, and estimated percent lysis which were determined by the multivariable logistic regression with the minimum Akaike information criterion of 605.1. The model demonstrated good discrimination with an AUC of 0.767 (95%CI 0.725-0.808), and the Hosmer-Lemeshow test indicated good fitness of the predicting variables with a value of 0.491. Identically, external validation confirmed that the model exhibited good performance with an AUC of 0.738. Moreover, the clinical decision curve showed a positive net benefit in the prediction model. Meanwhile, the web version we created was easy to use. The risk stratification indicated that high-risk patients with a risk score >147.9 had a higher chance of pregnancy loss (OR=6.05, 95%CI 4.09-8.97).
CONCLUSIONS
This nomogram well-predicted the risk of future pregnancy loss in RPL and can be used by clinicians to identify high-risk patients and provide a reference for pregnancy management of RPL.

INTRODUCTION
Transplacental infections are frequent, especially in developing countries, where limited screening is performed to find infectious agents in the pregnant population. We aim to determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics and seroinfection of antibodies against , parvovirus B19, , and HIV in pregnant women who attended the Motupe Health Center in Lambayeque, Peru during July-August 2018.
METHODS
A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 179 pregnant women interviewed with a standardized questionnaire. ELISA was used to determine antibodies to and parvovirus B19. The detection of syphilis and HIV was conducted using immunochromatography, while the detection of hepatitis B was conducted using FTA-ABS and immunofluorescence, respectively.
RESULTS
Of 179 pregnant women, syphilis and HIV infections routinely included in the screening of pregnant women presented a seroinfection of 2.2 and 0.6%, respectively. Toxoplasmosis seroinfection was 25.1%, while IgM antiparvovirus B19 was 40.8%, revealing that pregnant women had an active infection at the time of study.
CONCLUSION
The level of seroinfection of toxoplasmosis reveals the risk to which pregnant women who participated in the study are exposed. The high seroinfection of parvovirus B19 could explain the cases of spontaneous abortion and levels of anemia in newborn that have been reported in Motupe, Lambayeque, Peru. However, future causality studies are necessary to determine the significance of these findings.

Pulmonary arteries may rarely be involved by primary and secondary tumors. Clinical and imaging features mimic those of PE making it challenging to diagnose. Choriocarcinoma is a malignant germ cell tumor, typically in the female genital tract. Rarely, they can present as PA thrombus. Female patients with a history of a molar pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, abortion or in this case a miscarriage, are at a higher risk of gestational trophoblastic disease which can manifest in this way, albeit this is rare. In this report we describe the case of a 52-year-old female who presented with a 1 month history of worsening dyspnea and pleuritic lower thoracic pain. A diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE) was confirmed on CT pulmonary angiogram, with a large volume thrombus in the left pulmonary artery (PA). She failed to improve on standard anticoagulation therapy and was found to have a raised beta-human chorionic gonadotropin of >100,000. This leads to an extensive malignancy work-up. The only pertinent finding was that of increased fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) accumulation in the PA thrombus. Endovascular biopsy of the thrombus was performed, and the patient was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma of the PA. This case highlights the importance of further investigation in patients failing to respond to anticoagulation therapy for PE. It also illustrates the role of interventional radiology in obtaining histological diagnosis in patient's presenting with PA tumor thrombus.
