Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) are primary liver cancers with different therapeutic methods and prognoses. This study aims to investigate the ultrasonography and enhanced computed tomography (CT) features of these cancers and improve the early diagnosis rate. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and imaging data of 319 patients diagnosed with HCC and 124 patients diagnosed with ICC, confirmed by pathology. A total of 443 patients were eligible in this study. From the perspective of clinical data, between HCC and ICC patients existed significant differences in age, gender, hepatic background, serum tumor markers of AFP and CA19.9, chronic hepatitis B/C and lymph node infiltration (p<0.05), but not in tumor size, microvascular invasion, serum tumor markers of CEA and CA125 (P>0.05). With respect to ultrasonography features, HCC patients had a higher proportion than ICC patients in splenomegaly (p=0.001), while ICC patients had a higher proportion than HCC patients in absence/not rich vascularity and intrahepatic bile duct dilatation (p<0.05). With respect to CT features, HCC patients were significantly different from ICC patients in the three-phase enhanced CT value mean, enhanced intensity and homogeneity of nodules (P<0.05). A multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to further clarify the correlation of these indices. However, only age≤60 years (OR=1.861, P=0.045), male (OR=3.850, P<0.001), AFP>7ng/ml (OR=0.119, P<0.001), lymph node infiltration (OR=5.968, P<0.001), intrahepatic bile duct dilatation (OR=2.414, P=0.04), splenomegaly (OR=0.081, P<0.001), rim APHE (OR=3.109, P=0.002), and iso- or hyper enhancement (OR=0.188, P<0.001) were independent risk factors. While there are overlapping ultrasonography and CT features between HCC and ICC, the integration of tumor markers and specific imaging characteristics can be beneficial in distinguishing between the two.

BACKGROUND
Pituitary gland metastasis is an unusual event, and pituitary metastasis from lung adenocarcinoma is extremely rare and associated with poor prognosis. To date, approximately 15 cases have been reported.
CASE SUMMARY
Here, we present the case of a 64-year-old woman with pituitary metastasis derived from lung adenocarcinoma, which was difficult to distinguish from other sellar tumors. The patient presented to the neurosurgery clinic with blurred vision and intermittent headache. During hospitalization, brain computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a pituitary macroadenoma. Chest CT revealed irregular nodules in the basal segment of the lower lobe of the left lung, which were likely lung cancer. Positron emission tomography-CT revealed a carbohydrate metabolism tumor in the lungs and sellar region, which was considered malignant. Postoperative pathological examination of the sellar tumor revealed lung adenocarcinoma.
CONCLUSION
Excision of pituitary metastases combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy should be a priority treatment for patients with pituitary metastasis.

Lung cancer is the main cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Due to lack of obvious clinical symptoms in the early stage of the lung cancer, it is hard to distinguish between malignancy and pulmonary nodules. Understanding the immune responses in the early stage of malignant lung cancer patients may provide new insights for diagnosis. Here, using high-through-put sequencing, we obtained the TCRβ repertoires in the peripheral blood of 100 patients with Stage I lung cancer and 99 patients with benign pulmonary nodules. Our analysis revealed that the usage frequencies of TRBV, TRBJ genes, and V-J pairs and TCR diversities indicated by D50s, Shannon indexes, Simpson indexes, and the frequencies of the largest TCR clone in the malignant samples were significantly different from those in the benign samples. Furthermore, reduced TCR diversities were correlated with the size of pulmonary nodules. Moreover, we built a backpropagation neural network model with no clinical information to identify lung cancer cases from patients with pulmonary nodules using 15 characteristic TCR clones. Based on the model, we have created a web server named "Lung Cancer Prediction" (LCP), which can be accessed at http://i.uestc.edu.cn/LCP/index.html.

Contrast-enhanced endoscopic ultrasound (CH-EUS) can overcome the limitations of endoscopic ultrasound-guided acquisition by identifying microvessels inside inhomogeneous tumours and improving the characterization of these tumours. Despite the initial enthusiasm that oriented needle sampling under CH-EUS guidance could provide better diagnostic yield in pancreatic solid lesions, further studies did not confirm the supplementary values in cases of tissue acquisition guided by CH-EUS. This review details the knowledge based on the available data on contrast-guided procedures. The indications for CH-EUS tissue acquisition include isoechoic EUS lesions with poor visible delineation where CH-EUS can differentiate the lesion vascularisation from the surrounding parenchyma and also the mural nodules within biliopancreatic cystic lesions, which occur in select cases. Additionally, the roles of CH-EUS-guided therapy in patients whose pancreatic fluid collections or bile ducts that have an echogenic content have indications for drainage, and patients who have nonvisualized vessels that need to be highlighted Doppler EUS are presented. Another indication is represented if there is a need for an immediate assessment of the post-radiofrequency ablation of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours, in which case CH-EUS can be used to reveal the incomplete tumour destruction.

Liver cancer is one of the most prevalent forms of cancer worldwide. A significant proportion of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are diagnosed at advanced stages, leading to unfavorable treatment outcomes. Generally, the development of HCC occurs in distinct stages. However, the diagnostic and intervention markers for each stage remain unclear. Therefore, there is an urgent need to explore precise grading methods for HCC. Machine learning has emerged as an effective technique for studying precise tumor diagnosis. In this research, we employed random forest and LightGBM machine learning algorithms for the first time to construct diagnostic models for HCC at various stages of progression. We categorized 118 samples from GSE114564 into three groups: normal liver, precancerous lesion (including chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, dysplastic nodule), and HCC (including early stage HCC and advanced HCC). The LightGBM model exhibited outstanding performance (accuracy = 0.96, precision = 0.96, recall = 0.96, F1-score = 0.95). Similarly, the random forest model also demonstrated good performance (accuracy = 0.83, precision = 0.83, recall = 0.83, F1-score = 0.83). When the progression of HCC was categorized into the most refined six stages: normal liver, chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, dysplastic nodule, early stage HCC, and advanced HCC, the diagnostic model still exhibited high efficacy. Among them, the LightGBM model exhibited good performance (accuracy = 0.71, precision = 0.71, recall = 0.71, F1-score = 0.72). Also, performance of the LightGBM model was superior to that of the random forest model. Overall, we have constructed a diagnostic model for the progression of HCC and identified potential diagnostic characteristic gene for the progression of HCC.

Diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPL) is one of the most challenging fields in early lung cancer diagnosis. Despite novel techniques and new approaches to the periphery of the lung, almost 25% of PPL remains undiagnosed. Virtual bronchoscopy navigation (VBN) potentially allows to sample PPL previously not reachable with conventional bronchoscopy. In this preliminary report, we described nine cases of PPL (in which conventional bronchoscopy did not reach the lesion) sampled with VBN, from which we obtained a diagnosis in seven out of nine cases (77.8%), consistent with other reported results in literature. More large-scale data are needed to whether VBN can increase diagnostic yield (DY) of PPL.

Legumes are renowned for their distinctive biological characteristic of forming symbiotic associations with soil bacteria, mostly belonging to the familiy, leading to the establishment of symbiotic root nodules. Within these nodules, rhizobia play a pivotal role in converting atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-assimilable form. However, it has been discerned that root nodules of legumes are not exclusively inhabited by rhizobia; non-rhizobial endophytic bacteria also reside within them, yet their functions remain incompletely elucidated. This comprehensive review synthesizes available data, revealing that and are the most prevalent genera of nodule endophytic bacteria, succeeded by , , , , and . To date, the bibliographic data available show that followed by and are the main hosts for nodule endophytic bacteria. Clustering analysis consistently supports the prevalence of and as the most abundant nodule endophytic bacteria, alongside , , and . Although non-rhizobial populations within nodules do not induce nodule formation, their presence is associated with various plant growth-promoting properties (PGPs). These properties are known to mediate important mechanisms such as phytostimulation, biofertilization, biocontrol, and stress tolerance, emphasizing the multifaceted roles of nodule endophytes. Importantly, interactions between non-rhizobia and rhizobia within nodules may exert influence on their leguminous host plants. This is particularly shown by co-inoculation of legumes with both types of bacteria, in which synergistic effects on plant growth, yield, and nodulation are often measured. Moreover these effects are pronounced under both stress and non-stress conditions, surpassing the impact of single inoculations with rhizobia alone.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a significant global health threat as the silent pandemic. Because of the use of antimicrobials in aquaculture systems, fish farms may be potential reservoirs for the dissemination of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs). Treatments with disinfectants have been promoted to reduce the use of antibiotics; however, the effect of these types of treatments on AMR or ARGs is not well known. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of low dose ozone treatments (0.15 mg/L) on ARG dynamics in pond water using metagenomic shotgun sequencing analysis. The results suggested that ozone disinfection can increase the relative abundance of acquired ARGs and intrinsic efflux mediated ARGs found in the resistance nodulation cell division (RND) family. Notably, a co-occurrence of efflux and non-efflux ARGs within the same bacterial genera was also observed, with most of these genera dominating the bacterial population following ozone treatments. These findings suggest that ozone treatments may selectively favor the survival of bacterial genera harboring efflux ARGs, which may also have non-efflux ARGs. This study underscores the importance of considering the potential impacts of disinfection practices on AMR gene dissemination particularly in aquaculture settings where disinfectants are frequently used at low levels. Future endeavors should prioritize the evaluation of these strategies, as they may be associated with an increased risk of AMR in aquatic environments.

BACKGROUND/AIM
The distinctive liver framework is converted into structurally abnormal nodules as a consequence of tissue fibrosis in cirrhosis. Cardiac dysfunction in cirrhosis was described, and the term "cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM)" was coined to describe this syndrome. Recent research has shown that the contractile characteristics of the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) have a significant impact on right ventricular functions. The right ventricular outflow tract-systolic excursion is an important systolic function marker of RVOT (RVOT-SE). There has yet to be published research on RVOT function in cirrhotic patients. We looked at the relationship between cirrhosis severity and the RVOT-SE.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Sixty-nine consecutive hepatic cirrhotic patients were recruited for the research between June 1, 2018 and January 1, 2022. A medical history, thorough physical examination, laboratory investigations, echocardiographic evaluation, and RVOT-SE were obtained. The patients were separated into two groups: those with compensated cirrhosis (Child-Pugh class 1) and those with decompensated cirrhosis (Child-Pugh class 2 and 3).
RESULTS
On the numerous standard echocardiographic parameters that examined the diameter and function of the left ventricle, we observed no significant difference between groups. Nevertheless, a statistically significant difference in Right Ventricle Wall (RVW) (p = 0.014), systolic pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP) (p = 0.034), RVOT-SE (p = 0.003), and Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion (TAPSE) (p = 0.042) was detected across cirrhosis groups. The RVOT-SE had a positive correlation with cirrhosis severity (OR: 0.607; 95% CI: 0.425-0.866; p = 0.006), according to multiple logistic regression studies. According to the ROC curve study, RVOT-SE 8.8 cm/s predicted decompensated cirrhosis with 72% sensitivity and 72.7% specificity (AUC = 0.715, p: 0.001).
CONCLUSION
In the current study, we found that RVOT-SE was related to the severity of cirrhosis. Larger patient cohorts and multi-center investigations will provide light on the notion.
