Review
Dermoid cysts account for 10-20% of ovarian germ cell tumors. Malignant transformation within ovarian dermoid cyst has been reported in 1-2 per cent of the cases. The treatment remains controversial. In women of childbearing age and in the first stages of the disease unilateral annexectomy without adjuvant therapy is recommended. In menopausal women extensive surgery is sometimes performed, no matter what stage of the disease the person is experiencing. We report the case of a menopausal patient with malignant transformation within ovarian dermoid cyst who underwent surgery. She had a favorable outcome.

INTRODUCTION
Bulky dermoid cysts of the floor of the mouth are very rare and may pose a problem of diagnosis. They also raise problems for the anesthesiologist and surgeon. We report the first case to be described in Togo.
CASE REPORT
A 23-year-old man was admitted for a submental submandibular sublingual mass. It was soft, depressable, painless, without adenopathies, raising the tongue against the palate and creating a "second tongue-like" aspect. Resection on intra-oral route removed an intact cyst of 13cm long axis. Histology diagnosed dermoid cyst.
DISCUSSION
Dermoid cysts of the floor of the mouth present as a submental sublingual mass, which may cause dyspnea and disorders of swallowing, chewing and/or vocal function. Differential diagnosis concerns sublingual, submental and cervical masses. Definitive diagnosis is founded on the histology specimen. Imaging may assist diagnosis. Intubation may be problematic. The resection approach may be intra-oral or cervical.
CONCLUSION
Dermoid cysts of the floor of the mouth are rare. They may induce functional disorder. An intra-oral approach is preferable when possible.

Eye (London, England) Feb 2023To evaluate the clinical features of developmental cysts of the orbit.
PURPOSE
To evaluate the clinical features of developmental cysts of the orbit.
PATIENTS AND METHODS
Retrospective study of patients who had excision of cysts between 1992 and 2020.
RESULTS
Three hundred and 58 patients (189 male; 53%) with orbital developmental cysts were identified, all being unilateral. Age at surgery varied from birth to 77 years (mean 17, median 18 years) and the average symptom duration was 5 years (median 18 months; range 1 day-50 years). The commonest presenting features were a peribulbar lump or upper lid swelling, followed by proptosis, pain, diplopia and reduced vision. Most patients (82%) had a palpable mass, with epidermoids, sebaceous dermoids and keratinised dermoids commonly affecting the superotemporal quadrant, and conjunctiva-containing cysts usually being biased to a medial location. Cysts were lined by keratinised epithelium with dermal structures (224/358; 63%), non-keratinised epithelium with dermal structures (69/358; 19%), epidermis without identifiable dermal structures (19/358 'epidermoids'; 5%), conjunctiva (12/358; 3%), respiratory epithelium (4/358; 1%), or mixed dermal and conjunctival epithelia (30/358 'dermo-conjunctival' cysts; 8%). Overall, two-thirds (242/358; 66%) had histological evidence of chronic intramural inflammation, and a half of cysts showed granuloma formation (178/358 cysts). Chronic inflammation was less common with conjunctival cysts (54%, 7/12 patients) and none showed granuloma formation.
CONCLUSION
Developmental cysts of the orbit vary from the relatively common dermoid cysts to the extremely rare respiratory epithelial-lined cysts. Respiratory cysts, being deeper, may present late in life and cysts containing conjunctival epithelium tend to be less inflamed and typically favour the superonasal quadrant.

Review
The gastrointestinal tract is an unusual site for teratomas to occur. Only 4 prior cases of teratomas involving the cecum have appeared in the English literature, the latest published in 1977. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to describe fine-needle aspiration cytologic findings in addition to histologic features of a mature cystic teratoma involving the gastrointestinal tract. A 30-year-old man presented with right upper quadrant abdominal pain and a palpable abdominal mass. Radiographic studies identified a mass lesion inferior to the liver and in close association with the ascending colon. Fine-needle aspiration biopsy showed scant keratinous material and anucleated squamous cells. Right colectomy revealed a cystic mass in the wall of the cecum that contained keratinous material and was lined by stratified granular squamous epithelium with sebaceous glands. Clinical and pathologic features with review of the literature are presented, and the differential diagnosis for pericolic cystic masses is discussed in detail.

Dermoid cysts are benign developmental lesions consisting of tissues of more than one germ cell lineage origin. The urinary bladder is a very rare location of dermoid cysts. We report a case of an 18-year-old woman who presented with suprapubic pain, dysuria and turbid urine. Blood and serum chemistry was normal. Contrast-enhanced CT revealed a heterogeneously enhancing mass of 2.5×2 cm within the urinary bladder infiltrating fundus of urinary bladder with extraluminal extension. At cystoscopy, an irregular mass arising from the dome of the urinary bladder with a covering of hair and whitish scales was seen. The patient was managed by transperitoneal laparoscopic partial cystectomy with left oophorectomy. Histology revealed dermoid cyst arising from the urinary bladder and simple serous cyst in the ovary. Postoperative course was uneventful.

Dermoid cysts are an exceedingly rare phenomenon inside the cranial vault. These benign, slow-growing lesions can rupture, releasing cyst contents into the ventricular system and subarachnoid space causing pathology in the form of chemical meningitis and vasospasm. Here, we present the case of a 26-year-old man who was investigated for a facial nerve palsy and was incidentally found to have a ruptured dermoid cyst in the pineal region, with dissemination of cyst contents throughout the ventricular system.

A case of a dermoid cyst of the floor of mouth affecting a 19 years old male will be discussed. The macroscopic and histologic findings used for diagnosis will be covered. The typical features of this type of cyst will also be reviewed including radiographic and histologic findings. Discussion will include etiology and usual presentation, as well as treatment.
