A species of aerobic or facultatively anaerobic, Gram-positive, coryneform, pleomorphic bacilli assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. This species is nonmotile, non-spore forming, catalase positive, reduces nitrate, hydrolyzes urea and esculin, is pyrazinamidase positive, and is negative for the CAMP test.
