(neisseria weaverii) A species of aerobic, Gram-negative, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is nonmotile, catalase and oxidase positive, non-pigmented, alpha-hemolytic only on sheep's blood agar, does not utilize carbohydrates, reduces nitrite, but not nitrate, does not synthesize polysaccharides, and does not require salts to grow.
