A species of aerobic or facultatively anaerobic, Gram-positive, coryneform, pleomorphic bacilli assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. This species is nonmotile, non-spore forming, catalase positive, oxidase negative, pyrazinamidase positive, reduces nitrate, urease negative, lipophilic, ferments glucose, but does not hydrolyze esculin.
