(distamycin antineoplastic antibiotic) An antineoplastic antibiotic isolated from the bacterium Streptomyces distallicus. Distamycin antibiotics bind to the minor groove of DNA, preferentially to adenine-thymine (A-T) rich sequences, thereby inhibiting DNA replication and RNA transcription.
