A species of aerobic, Gram-negative, coccobacilli shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is nonmotile, non-spore forming, noncapsulated oxidase and catalase positive, urease and indole negative, reduces nitrite, but not nitrate, nonhemolytic, moderately fastidious, susceptible to penicillin, and does not produce pigment, odors or hydrogen sulfide, ferment or oxidize carbohydrates, or hydrolyze gelatin.
