Definitions related to pallister-hall syndrome:
-
A pleiotropic disorder of human development that comprises hypothalamic HAMARTOMA; central and postaxial POLYDACTYLY; bifid EPIGLOTTIS; ANAL ATRESIA; and renal and other abnormalities. This disorder is associated with FRAMESHIFT MUTATIONS in the GLI3 gene which encodes the GLI3 protein, a KRUPPEL-LIKE TRANSCRIPTION FACTORS family member.NLM Medical Subject HeadingsU.S. National Library of Medicine, 2021
-
A syndrome caused by dominant negative mutations in the GLI3 gene, encoding the transcriptional activator GLI3. The condition is characterized by a spectrum of clinical features including hypothalamic hamartoma, hypopituitarism, bifid epiglottis, laryngotracheal cleft, polydactyly, and cutaneous syndactyly.NICHD Pediatric TerminologyU.S. National Cancer Institute, 2021
-
A very rare autosomal dominant inherited disorder caused by mutations in the GLI3 gene. It is characterized by a spectrum of abnormalities which include polydactyly, cutaneous syndactyly, bifid epiglottis, hypothalamic hamartoma, and laryngotracheal cleft.NCI ThesaurusU.S. National Cancer Institute, 2021

Pallister-Hall syndrome (referred to as PHS in this entry) is characterized by a spectrum of anomalies ranging from polydactyly, asymptomatic bifid epiglottis, and hypothalamic hamartoma at the mild end to laryngotracheal cleft with neonatal lethality at the severe end. Individuals with mild PHS may be incorrectly diagnosed as having isolated postaxial polydactyly type A. Individuals with PHS can have pituitary insufficiency and may die as neonates from undiagnosed and untreated adrenal insufficiency.GeneReviewsUniversity of Washington, 2021
