  • (reporter gene) A gene which produces an easily assayed phenotype. Often used for expression studies of heterologous promoters.

  • (reporter gene) Indicator gene (usually one encoding an easily assayed enzyme) included in a transfection vector, whose expression is a measure of promotor function or the success of transfection.
