An irregular unpaired bone situated at the SKULL BASE and wedged between the frontal, temporal, and occipital bones (FRONTAL BONE; TEMPORAL BONE; occipital bone). Sphenoid bone consists of a median body and three pairs of processes resembling a bat with spread wings.
