Greek helmins (helminth-) = a worm

  • A non-taxonomic group of parasitic worms. The term may be used to describe flatworms (Platyhelminthes), namely cestodes (tapeworms) and trematodes (flukes), and roundworms (Nematoda). These are common infectious agents of humans in developing countries.
