  • (trichoblastoma) A benign hair follicle neoplasm with trichoblastic differentiation. It usually presents as a solitary papular lesion It most often presents on the head and neck area, but it may develop in any anatomic site containing hair follicles. Because of its benign nature, treatment usually is not required, provided that the diagnosis has been established with certainty.

  • A benign hair follicle tumor whose tumor cells form rudimentary hair follicles but not actual hair shafts. A trichoepithelioma is usually less than one centimeter, firm, round, and shihy with yellow, pink, brown, or bluish color. They may occur multiply, usually on the face, and may gradually increase in number with age.

  • Trichoepithelioma is a benign adnexal neoplasm. According to some authors, trichoepithelioma may be a superficial form of trichoblastoma.
