INTRODUCTION
The severe conditions often experienced in an intensive care unit, combined with poor working conditions, increase stress and therefore decrease job satisfaction. Sustained stress in the workplace leads to the development of burnout, a syndrome characterised by three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation and perceived lack of personal fulfilment.
OBJECTIVE
To analyse the relationship between burnout syndrome and job satisfaction among ICU personnel.
DATA SOURCES
The PubMed, CINAHL and Scopus databases were used.
STUDY DESIGN
A systematic review and meta-analysis. The study sample consisted of 18 quantitative primary studies conducted in the last five years. Validated questionnaires were used to assess burnout in ICU healthcare workers, the most commonly used being the Maslach Burnout Inventory.
EXTRACTION METHODS
The search equation applied was: "job satisfaction AND nurs* AND burnout AND (ICU OR intensive care units)". The search was performed in October 2022.
PRINCIPAL FINDINGS
The search returned 514 results. Only 73 articles met the eligibility criteria. After reading the title and abstract, 20 articles were selected. After reading the full texts, 12 articles remained and after the reverse search, 18 articles were finally selected. The studies reported a 50% prevalence of burnout, all three dimensions of which were heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Analysis of the study findings revealed an inverse association between burnout and job satisfaction.
CONCLUSIONS
Job dissatisfaction of ICU nurses depends on lack of experience, working conditions or working environment among others. ICU nurses with lower job satisfaction have higher levels of burnout.
IMPLICATIONS FOR CLINICAL PRACTICE
This meta-analysis shows the potential value of job satisfaction on improving health outcomes related to burnout syndrome for nursing professional in Intensive Care Units. Different factors that could increase job satisfaction and consequently protect them from suffering high levels of burnout, such as salary, permanence in the service, mental health care are the responsibility of the hospital supervisor and, finally, of the own Health System. Knowledge of a risk profile based on the factors influencing job dissatisfaction would enable the implementation of effective workplace interventions to reduce or prevent the risk of burnout. Health policies should focus on protecting the worker, so in addition to improving working conditions, it would be interesting to promote coping skills in order to improve the quality of care and patient safety.

The hyper-immunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES) is a primary immunodeficiency disease originally described as Job syndrome. The fundamental causative variant of the HIES is an autosomal dominant mutation in the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) gene. It is characterized by recurrent staphylococcal cold skin abscess, sinopulmonary infection, eczema, head and face anomalies, frequent bone fractures, eosinophilia and extremely high serum IgE levels (IgE ≥ 2000 IU/mL). However, multiple other genetic defects are also known as HIES-like disorders. Apart from infectious manifestations, STAT3, DOCK8 and TYK2 gene mutations are associated with various malignancies. The most common malignancies reported in these patients are lymphomas, including Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) of B and T cells. This systematic review aimed to investigate the prevalence of malignancies in HIES and the factors associated with malignancy in these patients. In this survey, all articles published until April 1st, 2023, in Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science databases based on three groups of keywords related to HIES syndrome and malignancy were reviewed by three different researchers. Finally, 26 articles were evaluated from which 24 papers were meta-analyzed. In the current study, the demographic information of 1133 patients with HIES, which was mentioned in 24 articles enrolled in the project, was collected, and the information related to patients who had malignancy was analyzed and meta-analyzed. A total of 96 patients out of 1133 studied patients had at least one type of malignancy, the overall prevalence of malignancies reported in the articles was 6.5% (95% confidence interval 4.1-9%), and the total prevalence of malignancy in patients with NHL type and patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was 2.9% (95% confidence interval 1.7-4.4%) and 2.2% (95% confidence interval 0.3-4.1%), respectively. The results of this study indicated that in 6.5% of cases, HIES was complicated with malignancy, and considering the higher rate of these malignancies in women as well as in DOCK8 mutation sufferers, it is necessary for physicians to be aware of this association and includes malignancy screening in follow-up and periodic examinations of these patients. Indeed, more studies in this field will help to clarify the precise figures and predisposing factors of the relationship between HIES and malignancy.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES
Burnout, stemming from chronic work stress, is a significant issue in the medical field, especially among radiologists. It leads to compromised patient care and reduced job satisfaction. Addressing burnout in radiology is essential for the well-being of radiologists and, in turn, for improving patient care. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and dimensions of burnout among radiology trainees (RTs) and practicing radiologists (PRs).
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted in accordance with established guidelines. The search encompassed PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Embase databases up to June 20, 2023. Eligible studies that assessed the rate of burnout syndrome and/or its subscales, including depersonalization (DP), emotional exhaustion (EE), and personal accomplishment (PA), among RTs and/or PRs using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), were included. Relevant data were extracted and analyzed using R and STATA.
RESULTS
Among the 22 included studies, the pooled rates of positive MBI subscales for RTs and PRs were as follows: 54.7% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 43.8%-65.1%, I = 95.2%) for DP, 57.2% (95% CI: 48.7%-65.4%, I = 92.9%) for EE, and 38.6% (95% CI: 27%-51.7%, I = 95.5%) for low PA. The pooled rate indicating the presence of at least one positive MBI subscale was 82.9% (95% CI: 79.2%-86.1%, I = 57.4%). For two or more positive MBI subscales, the pooled rate was 55.5% (95% CI: 49.7%-61.3%, I = 60.2%), and for three positive MBI subscales, it was 16.7% (95% CI: 11.7%-23.3%, I = 82.7%).
CONCLUSION
This study emphasizes a notable prevalence of burnout in the radiology specialty, with 8 of 10 individuals exhibiting positive results in at least one MBI subscale. This highlights the urgent need for interventions and support systems to protect the well-being of both trainees and practitioners and uphold the quality of patient care.

PURPOSE
Social determinants of health and poor working conditions contribute to excessive sickness absence and attrition in contact centre advisors. With no recent review conducted, the current scoping review is needed to investigate the volume, effectiveness, acceptability, and feasibility of health-promoting interventions for contact centre advisors. This will inform the adoption and implementation of evidence-based practice, and future research.
METHODS
Searches conducted across four databases (MEDLINE, PsycInfo, CINAHL, Web of Science) and reference checking in February 2023 identified health-promoting interventions for contact centre advisors. Extracted and coded data from eligible interventions were systematically synthesised using the nine intervention functions of the Behaviour Change Wheel and behaviour change technique taxonomy.
RESULTS
This scoping review identified a low number of high quality and peer-reviewed health-promoting intervention studies for contact centre advisors (28 studies since 2002). Most interventions were conducted in high-income countries with office-based advisors, predominantly using environmental restructuring and training strategies to improve health. Most interventions reported positive effectiveness results for the primary intended outcomes, which were broadly organised into: i) health behaviours (sedentary behaviour, physical activity, smoking); ii) physical health outcomes (musculoskeletal health, visual health, vocal health, sick building syndrome); iii) mental health outcomes (stress, job control, job satisfaction, wellbeing). Few interventions evaluated acceptability and feasibility.
CONCLUSION
There is little evidence on the effectiveness, acceptability, and feasibility of health-promoting interventions for contact centre advisors. Evidence is especially needed in low-to-middle income countries, and for remote/hybrid, nightshift, older and disabled advisors.
