Depressive disorders have a major impact on occupational health and are costly to the economy and the healthcare system. Probiotics are live, non-pathogenic micro-organisms that, when ingested in adequate amounts, can colonize the intestinal tract and confer health benefits on the patient. In recent years, numerous studies have described the potential usefulness of certain probiotic strains in the treatment and prevention of depressive disorders, with differing results. In order to evaluate the possible efficacy and safety of these microorganisms in preventing or ameliorating these disorders, we systematically searched the bibliographic databases MEDLINE (via Pubmed), EMBASE, the Cochrane library, Scopus and Web of science, using the descriptors "Occupational health", "Probiotics", "Depressive Disorder" and "Depression" and filters "Humans" and "Clinical Trials". After applying our inclusion and exclusion criteria, 18 studies were accepted for review and critical analysis. Our analysis suggests that a combination of different probiotic strains, most of them from the genus sp. and sp., could be a good mixture as an adjuvant in the treatment of depressive disorders for the working population.

PURPOSE
Progress of interventional cardiology has boosted the use of newer cardiac devices. These devices are perceived to be less prone to infections compared to traditional surgical prostheses, but little data are currently available. In this systematic review (SR), we summarize current literature regarding the clinical characteristics, management, and outcomes of patients with MitraClip-related infective endocarditis (IE).
METHODS
We conducted a SR of PubMed, Google Scholar, Embase, and Scopus between January 2003 and March 2022. MitraClip-related IE was defined according to 2015 ESC criteria whereas MitraClip involvement as vegetation on the device or on the mitral valve. Risk of bias was assessed through standardized checklist and potential bias of underestimation cannot be excluded. Data regarding clinical presentation, echocardiography, management, and outcome were collected.
RESULTS
Twenty-six cases of MitraClip-related IE were retrieved. The median age of patients was 76 [61-83] years with a median EuroScore of 41%. Fever was present in 65.8% of patients followed by signs and symptoms of heart failure (42.3%). IE occurred early in 20 (76.9%) cases with a median time between MitraClip implantation and IE symptom onset of 5 [2-16] months. Staphylococcus aureus was the major causative microorganism (46%). Surgical mitral valve replacement was needed in 50% of patients. A conservative medical approach was considered in the remainder. The overall in-hospital mortality rate was 50% (surgical group: 38.4%; medical group: 58.3%; p = 0.433).
CONCLUSION
Our results suggest that MitraClip-related IE affects elderly, comorbid patients, is mostly due to Staphylococcus aureus, and has a poor prognosis irrespective of the therapeutic approach. Clinicians must be aware of the features of this new entity among cardiovascular infections.

The Antiviral Granules (AG) are derived from the classical famous prescription, which is composed of 9 traditional Chinese medicines, namely Radix Isatidis (called Banlangen, BLG in Chinese), Forsythiae Fructus (called Lianqiao, LQ in Chinese), Gypsum fibrosum, Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (called Zhimu, ZM in Chinese), Phragmitis Rhizoma (called Lugen, LG in Chinese), Rehmanniae Radix (called Dihuang, DH in Chinese), Pogostemonis Herba (called Guanghuoxiang, GHX in Chinese), Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (called Shichangpu, SCP in Chinese), and Curcumae Radix (called Yujin, YJ in Chinese), and has shown an excellent therapeutic effect in clinical treatment of influenza. However, there are few studies on the anti-influenza mechanism of AG, and the mechanism of action is still unclear.
AIM OF THE STUDY
The purpose is to provide the latest information about the clinical efficacy, pharmacodynamic composition and mechanism of AG based on scientific literature, so as to enhance the utilization of AG in the treatment of influenza and related diseases, and promote the development and innovation of novel anti-influenza drugs targeting the influenza virus.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Enter the data retrieval room, search for Antiviral Granules, as well as the scientific names, common names, and Chinese names of each Chinese medicine. Additionally, search for the relevant clinical applications, pharmacodynamic composition, pharmacological action, and molecular mechanism of both Antiviral Granules and single-ingredient medicines. Keywords includes terms such as "antiviral granules", "influenza", "Isatis indigotica Fort.", "Radix Isatidis", "Banlangeng", "pharmacology", "clinical application", "pharmacologic action", etc. and their combinations. Obtain results from the Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, Sci Finder Scholar, CNKI and other resources.
RESULTS
AG is effective in the treatment of influenza and is often used in combination with other drugs to treat viral diseases. Its chemical composition is complex, including alkaloids, polysaccharides, volatile oils, steroid saponins, phenylpropanoids, terpenoids and other compounds. These compounds have a variety of pharmacological activities, which can interfere with the replication cycle of the influenza virus, regulate RIG-I-MAVS, JAK/STAT, TLRs/MyD88, NF-κB signaling pathways and related cytokines, regulate intestinal microorganisms, and protect both the lungs and extrapulmonary organs.
CONCLUSIONS
AG can overcome the limitations of traditional antiviral drug therapy, play a synergistic role in fighting influenza virus with the characteristics of multi-component, multi-pathway and multi-target therapy, and reverse the bodily function damage caused by influenza virus. AG may be a potential drug in the prevention and treatment of influenza and related diseases.

Continuous cropping (CC) is a common practice in agriculture, and usually causes serious economic losses due to soil degeneration, decreased crop yield and quality, and increased disease incidence, especially in medicinal plants. Continuous cropping obstacles (CCOs) are mainly due to changes in soil microbial communities, nutrient availability, and allelopathic effects. Recently, progressive studies have illustrated the molecular mechanisms of CCOs, and valid strategies to overcome them. Transcriptomic and metabolomics analyses revealed that identified DEGs (differently expressed genes) and metabolites involved in the response to CCOs are involved in various biological processes, including photosynthesis, carbon metabolism, secondary metabolite biosynthesis, and bioactive compounds. Soil improvement is an effective strategy to overcome this problem. Soil amendments can improve the microbial community by increasing the abundance of beneficial microorganisms, soil fertility, and nutrient availability. In this review, we sum up the recent status of the research on CCOs in medicinal plants, the combination of transcriptomic and metabolomics studies, and related control strategies, including uses of soil amendments, crop rotation, and intercropping. Finally, we propose future research trends for understanding CCOs, and strategies to overcome these obstacles and promote sustainable agriculture practices in medicinal plants.

Characterization of the oral microbiota and the relationship of the oral microbiota with the dental and periodontal status in children and adolescents with nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate. Systematic literature review and meta-analysis.
OBJECTIVE
To identify the characteristics of the oral microbiota and the relationship of the dental caries and periodontal status in patients aged 0 to 18 years with non-syndromic cleft lip and palate (CLP).
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A systematic review of the literature was carried out. Five databases were consulted, including publications in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The evaluations of the quality of the observational studies and the experimental studies were carried out with the Newcastle-Ottawa scale and CONSORT guidelines, respectively. The risk of bias of the studies was determined using Rev Manager 5.4, and 5 publications were meta-analyzed.
RESULTS
The cariogenic microbiota of children and adolescents with cleft lip and palate was similar to that of children without clefts, although with higher counts of Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus spp. The periodontopathogenic microbiota was related to the presence of Campylobacter spp, Fusobacterium spp, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Prevotella intermedia/nigrescens, Parvimonas micra and Porphyromonas gingivalis, considered microorganisms with high pathogenic capacity. Heterogeneity was shown in relation to the microbiota and the type of fissure, presenting numerous microorganisms associated with the pre- and post-surgical condition (cheilorrhaphy and palatorrhaphy) such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus beta hemolyticus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Klebsiella oxytoca, Moraxella catarrhalis, Candida spp, Candida albicans, Candida krusei and Candida tropicalis. The meta-analysis revealed that patients with cleft lip and palate were 2.03 times more likely to have caries than the control group (p<0.005).
CONCLUSION
In the microbiota, there was a great diversity of microorganisms that can vary according to the type of fissure and surgical interventions predisposing patients to a greater probability of dental caries, it is important to take into account the technique used to describe the oral microbiota in order to be able to compare the different studies.
CLINICAL RELEVANCE
Studying the microbiota and the relationship of dental caries and periodontal status in children and adolescents with cleft lip and palate can facilitate the comprehensive care of patients with these conditions.

The relationship between cesarean section (CS) delivery and intestinal microbiota is increasingly studied. CS-born infants display distinct gut microbial compositions due to the absence of maternal birth canal microorganisms. These alterations potentially link to long-term health implications like immune-related disorders and allergies. This correlation underscores the intricate connection between birth mode and the establishment of diverse intestinal microbiota. A systematic literature review was conducted on the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases by analyzing the articles and examining the intricate interactions between CS delivery and the infant's intestinal microbiota. The analysis, based on a wide-ranging selection of studies, elucidates the multifaceted dynamics involved in CS-associated shifts in the establishment of fetal microbiota. We also explore the potential ramifications of these microbial changes on neonatal health and development, providing a comprehensive overview for clinicians and researchers. By synthesizing current findings, this review contributes to a deeper understanding of the interplay between delivery mode and early microbial colonization, paving the way for informed clinical decisions and future investigations in the field of perinatal medicine.

Arboviruses represent a real public health problem globally and in the Central African subregion in particular, which represents a high-risk zone for the emergence and re-emergence of arbovirus outbreaks. Furthermore, an updated review on the current arbovirus burden and associated mosquito vectors is lacking for this region. To contribute to filling this knowledge gap, the current study was designed with the following objectives: (i) to systematically review data on the occurrence and distribution of arboviruses and mosquito fauna; and (ii) to identify potential spillover mosquito species in the Central African region in the last 30 years. A web search enabled the documentation of 2454 articles from different online databases. The preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) and the quality of reporting of meta-analyses (QUORUM) steps for a systematic review enabled the selection of 164 articles that fulfilled our selection criteria. Of the six arboviruses (dengue virus (DENV), chikungunya virus (CHIKV), yellow fever virus (YFV), Zika virus (ZIKV), Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV), and West Nile virus (WNV)) of public health concern studied, the most frequently reported were chikungunya and dengue. The entomological records showed >248 species of mosquitoes regrouped under 15 genera, with ( = 100 species), ( = 56 species), and ( = 52 species) having high species diversity. Three genera were rarely represented, with only one species included, namely, , , and , but individuals of the genera and were not identified at the species level. We found that two species ( and ) colonised the same microhabitat and were involved in major epidemics of the six medically important arboviruses, and other less-frequently identified mosquito genera consisted of competent species and were associated with outbreaks of medical and zoonotic arboviruses. The present study reveals a high species richness of competent mosquito vectors that could lead to the spillover of medically important arboviruses in the region. Although epidemiological studies were found, they were not regularly documented, and this also applies to vector competence and transmission studies. Future studies will consider unpublished information in dissertations and technical reports from different countries to allow their information to be more consistent. A regional project, entitled "Ecology of Arboviruses" (EcoVir), is underway in three countries (Gabon, Benin, and Cote d'Ivoire) to generate a more comprehensive epidemiological and entomological data on this topic.

INTRODUCTION
The controversial issue of whether the Archaea domain plays a role in endodontic infections is the focus of this systematic review with meta-analysis. The aim is to emphasize the significance of minority microbial domains in oral dysbiosis by evaluating the prevalence of archaea in root canals and its association with clinical parameters such as symptomatology and type of endodontic infection.
METHODS
The search strategy involved researching 6 databases and the gray literature. Publications were accepted in any year or language that identified archaea in samples from endodontic canals. A 2-step selection process narrowed the final choice to 16 articles. The methodological quality of the studies was evaluated using tools from the Joanna Briggs Institute, and the certainty of evidence was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach.
RESULTS
The results showed that archaea were present in 20% (95% [confidence interval] CI = 8%-32%) of individuals with endodontic samples analyzed. The samples were about twice as likely to be archaeal-positive if collected from individuals with primary vs. persistent/secondary infection (odds ratio = 2.33; 95% CI = 1.31-4.14; I = 0%), or individuals with self-reported vs. symptom-free infections (odds ratio = 2.67; 95% CI = 1.47-4.85; I = 0%). Methanogenic archaea were reported in 66% of the included studies. Representative members of phyla Thaumarchaeota and Crenarchaeota were also identified.
CONCLUSIONS
Archaea are present in about one-fifth of the infected root canals. Recognized biases in experimental approaches for researching archaea must be addressed to understand the prevalence and roles of archaea in endodontic infections, and to determine whether the decontamination process should include the elimination or neutralization of archaea from root canals (International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews protocol = CRD42021264308).

Despite the advancement in medicine, there is still a lack of understanding of the sex disparities in disease onset, progression, treatment, and outcome. In some life-threatening acute conditions, despite most patients with these illnesses being males, females have a significantly higher chance of mortality. This can be due to the differences in disease progression or healthcare disparities in managing the illness between the sexes. Treatment of illnesses tends to be more conservative for women without an explanation, but this disparity is due to the healthcare provider. Infective endocarditis (IE) is an acute life-threatening condition where bacteria latch onto and seed damaged endocardium, with some preliminary information reporting differences between the sexes. This paper aims to evaluate the sex disparities in the incidence, age, comorbidities, etiology, risk factors, manifestations, treatment, and outcomes of IE. From 2003-2023, 21584 articles were found that focused on the sex differences in IE and, through PRISMA guidelines, were narrowed down to 34 publications. There are significant differences between the sexes in IE, such as a significantly higher incidence of IE in males, who also tend to be older and have their native aortic valves involved, compared to younger females who have their mitral valve involved. Comorbidities also vary between the sexes; females tend to have atrial fibrillation, chronic kidney disease, psychiatric disorders, and taking immunosuppressants compared to males who suffer from chronic liver disease, underlying valve disease, and peripheral artery disease, contributing to the ease of developing IE. While the most common microorganism leading to IE is females were more likely to have culture-negative IE, and men were more likely to be infected with Major manifestations in IE are fever and vegetation along the closure of the valves in the heart, where females were more likely to have vegetation on the mitral and aortic valves. At the same time, males were more likely to have it on the tricuspid valve. On par with sex disparities in health, females usually took longer to seek medical help than males despite the advancement of symptoms and deterioration. Females were also treated conservatively through antibiotic management, whereas males were more likely to advance to surgical treatment, leading to a longer hospital stay. While there was no true difference in the in-hospital mortality rate, the 30-day and 1-year mortality were significantly increased in females. These differences provide a range of starting points for various research to further educate physicians on sex disparities, such as why males have a higher incidence of infective endocarditis and determining whether it's hormones and basic metabolites, possibly limiting those who develop the infection. Another important point is treating females with IE; the antibiotic doses are standard, but whether they advance to surgical treatment is mostly up to the provider. Some providers deny surgical treatment despite all indications, but it could also be females denying surgery as they tend to leave against medical advice. This review is crucial in developing the next steps to sex disparity in IE, which may lead to better outcomes for males and females.

Maternal-fetal infectious pathology-notably the TORCH panel (, rubella, Cytomegalovirus, and herpes simplex viruses)-critically impacts maternal and neonatal health. This review collates data on the seroprevalence of IgG and IgM antibodies against TORCH agents in Romanian women, aiming to discern regional and population differences and identify risk factors. Twenty studies were included in the review, revealing variable seroprevalence rates across the country. Regions such as Moldavia and Banat showed higher anti- IgG seroprevalence rates than Bihor, with notable declines in Banat. Rural, older, and multiparous women showed elevated IgG rates. Anti-rubella vaccine introduction significantly reduced the prevalence of anti-rubella IgG antibodies, but recent vaccination coverage decreases raise concerns. CMV and HSV seroprevalence varied geographically, with rural areas generally showing higher CMV rates and HSV influenced by factors like education level and number of sexual partners. Concurrent seroprevalence of multiple TORCH components in some cases underscores potential common risk factors. This study highlights the importance of continuous monitoring and preventive measures such as vaccinations and awareness campaigns to mitigate the health impact on the pregnant population.
