BACKGROUND
This study "Effectiveness of Mckenzie approach and segmental spinal stabilization exercises on neck pain in individuals with cervical postural syndrome: an experimental study" was conducted to study and find the effectiveness of Mckenzie approach and segmental spinal stabilization exercises on reduction of pain, correction of rounded shoulder, and disability. Pain, disability, and rounded shoulders are the major limiting factors as it affects the quality of life and reduces efficiency and social participation.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
The study was conducted among 120 individuals with cervical postural syndrome, and fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria was included. The outcome measures were Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Neck Disability Index (NDI), and Vernier caliper to evaluate pain, functional disability, and rounded shoulder, respectively. Subjects were randomly divided into two groups, Group A and Group B, by using SPSS software. Interventional training was given for 6 weeks to the patients. Group A subjects were given spinal stabilization exercises. Group B subjects were given Mckenzie approach. The statistical analysis was performed using SPSS; pre-test and post-test were used to calculate the results, followed by data presentation and analysis.
RESULT
The result showed that at the end of the 6 weeks on comparison between pre- and post-intervention of Group A and Group B, both the techniques were effective, but group B was significantly effective than Group A.
CONCLUSION
It was noted that McKenzie approach and segmental spinal stabilization exercises were effective on neck pain in individuals with cervical postural syndrome, but on comparing both techniques, Mckenzie protocol is more beneficial than segmental spinal stabilization exercises. The study accepts the alternate hypothesis that there is significant effect of McKenzie approach and segmental spinal stabilization exercises on neck pain in individuals with cervical postural syndrome.

BACKGROUND AND AIM
To evaluate the association between severe early childhood caries (S-ECC), dietary preferences, and 2nd digit-4th digit (2D:4D) ratio. The objective is to contrast the detection and prevalence of dental caries in children with different sensitivity levels to the bitter taste of 6--propylthiouracil (PROP) and its association with 2D:4D.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A total of 300 children below 71 months of age were assigned to two study groups-group I (caries-free) and group II (caries). PROP sensitivity test was carried out to determine the inherent genetic ability to taste a bitter or sweet substance. Evaluation of dietary preferences was carried out using a food preference questionnaire, which was completed by the parents of the children to know the child's dietary habits and their sweet, sour, and strong taste preferences. The length of the index (2D) and ring (4D) finger was measured with the help of digital vernier caliper to record the 2D:4D ratio. The data obtained was subjected to statistical analysis using Pearson's Chi-squared test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).
RESULTS
The results suggested a positive association between S-ECC and dietary preferences but could not establish a straightforward 1:1 relation between 2D:4D ratio and S-ECC.
CONCLUSION
An individual considered as nontaster by PROP test was a sweet liker with low 2D:4D ratio having high caries index. The association between 2D:4D ratio and S-ECC should further be explored by taking other influencing factors into consideration before arriving at a definitive conclusion.

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a surgical procedure to treat severe knee osteoarthritis. Among several techniques available for performing TKA, imageless TKA is known for achieving precise alignment while minimizing invasiveness. This work proposes a comprehensive algorithm for imageless TKA device to calculate the varus/valgus and flexion/extension angles, as well as resection depths for cutting planes at distal femur and proximal tibia. Moreover, the algorithm calculates the hip-knee-ankle (HKA) and flexion angles of the leg. Initially, the proposed algorithm was validated in a virtual environment using a CT-scanned bone model in Solidworks. Subsequently, for the real-world validation, a SoftBone model was resected with conventional intra and extramedullary rods and cross-checked with the proposed algorithm. For the third validation, another SoftBone model was resected with the proposed algorithm and cuts were measured with a vernier caliper. During this experiment, there was an error of approximately 1 mm for both femoral and tibial resection cases when using an infrared camera with an accuracy of ±0.5 mm. However, this error could be reduced using an infrared camera with higher accuracy.

The separation of the two rectus abdominis muscles along the linea alba is termed diastasis of recti abdominis muscles (DRAM). DRAM is a common health problem in people that are both pregnant and postpartum. With a 100% frequency at gestational week 35, it is extremely frequent during pregnancy. Control and function of the trunk are greatly influenced by the musculature of the abdomen. The existence, extent, and duration of DRAM have been connected to low back and pelvic discomfort however the relationship is not conclusive. It has been proven to weaken abdominal muscles and impair their functioning in lumbo-pelvic stability. Additionally, DRAM has been linked to pelvic floor dysfunction. The mechanical control and function of the abdomen can be compromised by diastasis recti, which compromises the abdominal muscles. This study examined the impact of abdominal exercises and neuromuscular electrical stimulation on the DRAM in postnatal females who underwent Caesarean section. A total of 208 individuals, aged between 20 and 34, who had recti diastasis measuring more than 2.5 cm, underwent screening. They were split into two groups at random. Group B only received abdominal exercises, whereas Group A received NMES in addition to their activities. For a period of 12 weeks, the intervention was given to both groups three times a week. Changes have been recorded before and after the intervention. The pressure biofeedback unit, measuring tape, and vernier caliper were employed to evaluate the outcome measures of inter-recti distance, abdominal muscle strength, and waist-hip ratio, respectively. In every outcome, both groups had a highly significant (p<0.05) improvement. Furthermore, after 12 weeks, group A had improved in all measures with highly significant (p<0.05) intergroup comparisons. In comparison to MNES alone, NMES can have a more significant effect on reducing DRAM in postpartum women when paired with abdominal Exercise.

CONTEXT
The anthropometric facial clinical proportions are used in the field of orthodontics, maxillofacial and plastic surgery for aesthetic or abnormality corrections. There is lack of enough literature on the facial profiles of Indians.
AIM
To assess correlations between facial parameters and stature of young Maharashtrian women by using anthropometry.
SETTINGS AND DESIGN
It is a cross-sectional observational pilot study at Maharashtra Institute of Dental Sciences & Research, after approval from the Institutional Ethical Committee.
METHODS AND MATERIAL
The study included 15 students of 21-23 years age selected by simple randomisation. The facial parameters were measured by sliding vernier calipers after identifying facial landmarks by stickers. Facial height (FH) in thirds; upper FH (UFH), middle FH (MFH) and lower FH (LFH); facial width (FW) and stature or overall height (OH) were calculated to define average facial features.
STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
Multiple pairwise statistics and simple linear regression analyses were done for various dependent variables.
RESULTS
The means of UFH, MFH, LFH and total facial heights (TFH) were found to be 5.2 ± 0.54, 5.35 ± 0.34, 5.16 ± 0.44 and 15.7 ± 0.98 cm, respectively. The TFH showed a moderate correlation with stature (P ≤ 0.05, r = 0.64) and a strong correlation with lower lip length (P = 0.001, r = 0.78). Facial width showed a negative correlation with facial shape (P ≤ 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
The selected sample showed the statistically insignificant difference between UFH, MFH and LFH indicating equitable distribution among Indian women of Maharashtrian origin of 21-23 year age group. Longer TFH is positively correlated with higher stature and longer lower lip length.

OBJECTIVE
The aim of this study was to add to the understanding of nerve branching patterns in the proximal forearm and consider optimal nerve transfer options to address the various injuries that affect the function of the upper extremity.
METHODS
Eleven upper-extremity cadaveric specimens were dissected to expose the radial, median, and ulnar nerves in the proximal forearm. The site of origin of nerve branches from the major nerves was assessed, with measurements made in reference to the lateral epicondyle for the radial nerve branches and the medial epicondyle for the median and ulnar nerve branches. The distances to where these branches entered their respective muscles (muscle entry point) were assessed using the same landmarks. To plan a transfer, the length of the nerve branches was then calculated as the difference from the apparent origin from the main nerve trunk to the location where the nerve entered the muscle. Importantly, the nerve branch origin was established as the location of obvious separation from the main nerve trunk without additional fascicular dissection from the major nerve trunk. The number of branches was determined, and the diameter for each branch was measured using a Vernier caliper.
RESULTS
The radial nerve branch to the extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) muscle had an average length of 50.7 mm and average diameter of 1.6 mm. The mean medial and lateral lengths of the radial branches to the supinator muscle were found to be 22.2 mm (diameter 1.4 mm) and 15.3 mm (diameter 1.3 mm), respectively. The anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) branch of the median nerve was found 67.8 mm distal to the medial epicondyle with a diameter of 2.3 mm. The flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) muscle innervation from the ulnar nerve was provided by 3 or 4 branches in most specimens. The second and third of these branches were the longest, with means of 30.5 mm (diameter 1.4 mm) and 30.7 mm (diameter 1.3 mm), respectively.
CONCLUSIONS
While there is variability of the nerve branching pattern in the proximal forearm between specimens, the authors provide evidence of commonalities (branching patterns and distances) that can facilitate planning for upper-extremity nerve reconstructions. Importantly, all measurements are provided with reference to easily identified bony landmarks and to their muscle entry points to aid operative decision-making. These data complement the growing practice of nerve transfers in the upper extremity for a variety of pathologies.

BACKGROUND
The objective of this anatomical study was to perform the morphometry of dried lumbar vertebrae in human cadavers.
METHODS
This study utilized 200 adult human cadaveric dried lumbar vertebrae. The digital Vernier calipers was used to perform the measurements. The height, antero-posterior length, transverse length of the body of the vertebrae, interpedicular distance at the lateral ends, lamina length, height and thickness, superior and inferior articular facet height and width, mid sagittal and transverse diameter of vertebral foramen, height, width and thickness of the pars inter-articularis were measured.
RESULTS
The vertebral body's anteroposterior length was more at the lower border than at the superior border ( 0.01). The length of lamina was higher over the right in comparison to the left (p < 0.001). The height of lamina, width of inferior articular facet, diameter of lateral recess and thickness of pars inter-articularis were greater for the left sided specimens ( 0.01). The statistical significance was not observed for the comparison of the remaining parameters ( 0.05).
CONCLUSION
This anatomical study offered several dimensions of lumbar vertebrae, which are essential in the surgical practice. The implants at the lumbar vertebrae need to be manufactured based on the anatomical dimensions of that particular sample population.

This study utilized the mallard's foot as the subject, examining the bone distribution via computed tomography (CT) and analyzing pertinent parameters of the tarsometatarsal bones. Additionally, gross anatomy methods were employed to elucidate the characteristics of the toes and webbing bio-structures and their material composition. Biologically, the mallard's foot comprises tarsometatarsal bones and 10 phalanges, enveloped by fascia, tendons, and skin. Vernier calipers were used to measure the bones, followed by statistical analysis to acquire structural data. Tendons, originating in proximal muscles and terminating in distal bones beneath the fascia, facilitate force transmission and systematic movement of each segment's bones. Regarding material composition, the skin layer serves both encapsulation and wrapping functions. Fat pads, located on the metatarsal side of metatarsophalangeal joints and each phalanx, function as cushioning shock absorbers. The correlation between the force applied to the tarsometatarsal bones and the webbing opening angle was explored using a texture analyzer. A simplified model describing the driving force behind the webbing opening angle was introduced. Furthermore, we designed a bionic foot, contributing a foundational reference for anti-sinking bionic foot development.

OBJECTIVE
The aim of this study was to compare the scanning accuracy of two different intra-oral scanners- MEDIT i500 and TRIOS 3 shape in reproducing orthodontic bracket dimensions.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
This in vivo cross-sectional study comprised seven subjects with a full complement of permanent dentition without third molars. Complete arch scanning was carried out with two intraoral scanners, such as MEDIT i500, TRIOS 3 shape, after bonding with brackets. The control group consisted of bracket dimensions measured directly by using Vernier calipers before bonding. Bracket dimensions of three-dimensional (3D) images were measured by using OrthoAnalyzer software. The accuracy of intraoral scanning was investigated by comparing bracket dimensions among the three groups using One-way ANOVA and Post-Hoc Tukey HSD test, and by evaluating outcomes for each quadrant and an individual tooth in complete-arch scans.
RESULTS
When comparing bracket dimensions of 3D images with manual measurements using a traditional Vernier caliper, MEDIT i500 showed no significant difference when compared to the control group (p>0.05) in full arch scanning as well as the quadrant and single tooth scans in complete arch scanning. TRIOS 3 shape showed a significant difference when compared to the control and MEDIT i500 group (p<0.05) for all parameters.
CONCLUSIONS
MEDIT i500 showed higher accuracy and better reproduction of orthodontic bracket dimensions than TRIOS 3 shape.

PURPOSE
To study the relationship between the stylomastoid foramen and surrounding bony structures, enrich anatomical data and provide reference for clinical surgery.
METHODS
A total of 62 intact and dry adult skulls were selected. The shape of the stylomastoid foramen was observed, the diameter of the stylomastoid foramen, the distances from the posterolateral point and the anterior medial point to the surrounding bony structures were measured with a vernier caliper. SPSS 25.0 software package was used to analyze the data.
RESULTS
There were four shapes of stylomastoid foramen, i.e., circular (61.29%), oval (29.84%), irregular (8.06%) and triangular (0.81%). The circular diameter was (2.80±0.61) mm, the oval long and short diameters were (4.43±0.96) and (2.79±0.60) mm. Distances from the posterolateral and anterior medial points of the stylomastoid foramen to the posterolateral point of the external opening of the carotid canal, the anterior medial point of the jugular foramen, the midline, the most anterior point of the foramen magnum, the posterior point of the great palatine foramen, the posterolateral point of the foramen lacerated, the foramen ovale, the posterolateral point of the foramen spinosum, the anterior point of the styloid process root, the outermost point of the tympanomastoid fissure and the tip of the mastoid process were (16.10±2.81), (24.01±2.65), (44.95±3.24), (45.10±2.71), (61.66±4.14), (35.56±4.35), (32.26±2.85), (29.12±3.40), (10.39±3.25), (9.49±2.24) and (12.01±2.79) mm; (12.80±2.41), (21.56±2.51), (42.96±3.97), (42.91±2.76), (58.97±3.97), (32.98±4.14), (29.20±2.77), (25.80±2.87), (7.37±2.33), (11.42±2.00) and (15.41±2.57) mm, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the apertures and distances between the left and right side(P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
Most of the stylomastoid foramen are round and oval, understanding the distance between the foramen and surrounding bony structures is helpful for guiding clinical operations and enriching anatomical knowledge.
