Community pharmacists form a vital part of the health system all around the globe. Pharmacy remuneration models are aimed to ensure that pharmacies are sustained, and pharmacists could provide cost-effective services to the patients. This review summarizes the pharmacy services remuneration systems from different parts of the globe. Some countries have well-established reimbursement systems that recognize and compensate community pharmacies for their services, others are in the process of expanding the scope of reimbursable services. It further concludes by highlighting the ongoing efforts to incorporate pharmacist-provided services into reimbursement schemes and the need for standardized and consistent approaches to pharmacy remuneration globally.

BACKGROUND
The unprecedented coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has generated worldwide impacts while positioning community pharmacies as easily accessible immunizers to rollout the COVID-19 vaccine.
OBJECTIVES
This study describes community pharmacists' experiences, success stories, and lessons learned from providing COVID-19 immunization services.
METHODS
This study was conducted in February to March 2022 using semistructured interviews with licensed pharmacists practicing full-time in Alabama community pharmacies. Transcribed interviews' content analysis was conducted by 2 independent coders in ATLAS.ti software.
RESULTS
Nineteen interviews were completed. Pharmacists' experiences in the implementation of COVID-19 immunization services are described across 4 themes: (1) on-site and off-site immunization locations, (2) roles and responsibilities of pharmacy personnel, (3) vaccine storage and administration, and (4) vaccine waste reduction and immunization uptake strategies. This study found that pharmacists' ability to adapt is vital to maintaining their ability to offer immunization services and other services. Pharmacists' capacity for adapting is exemplified through their ability to acclimate to becoming a primary hub of outpatient health care services, accommodating to COVID-19 social distancing and vaccine guidelines, and disseminating a novel vaccine with varying supply and demand. In addition, pharmacies gathered and maintained waitlists of patients and adopted an appointment-based model as to predict, plan, and provide for patients. Pharmacists also used reactive techniques and workflow aspects to dissuade COVID-19 vaccine waste such as in contacting interested patients on waitlists or switching to a walk-in acceptance model. The COVID-19 pandemic elicited unprecedented alterations to the legal, health care responsibilities granted to pharmacy staff with participants describing pharmacy technicians as making a considerable impact to pharmacies' workflow.
CONCLUSIONS
Pharmacists stepped up as frontline providers during a time of public health emergency with their diverse experiences granting policy makers and researchers much to learn from as, in their communities, pharmacists have continued to increase access to care during a national health crisis.

Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians' Perceptions of Scopes of Practice Employing Agency Theory in the Management of Minor Ailments in Central Indonesian Community Pharmacies: A Qualitative Study.
Community pharmacy staff assist in the management of minor ailments. Agency Theory underpins relationships between health professionals and patients. This study explores pharmacists' and pharmacy technicians' perceived scopes of practice of minor ailment services in community pharmacies. Twelve one-on-one semi-structured interviews used an open-ended interview guide for each cohort of community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, between June and July 2021. Purposive sampling selected a diversity of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Interviews were transcribed verbatim, thematically analysed assisted by NVivo version 20. Agency Theory aided the interpretation. Three main themes emerged: (1) inconsistencies in practice, (2) the lack of understanding of the scopes of practice of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and (3) provision of prescription-only medicines for some minor ailments or to fulfil patient requests. Several sub-themes included pharmacy staff involvement, education and training, provision of prescription-only medicines, and weak regulatory enforcement. Agency Theory indicated pharmacy patients (principals) delegated authority to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians (agents), which was confused by partial pharmacist absence. The lack of defined scopes of practice for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians disrupted established professional relationships. The scopes of practice and roles of the pharmacist and pharmacy technicians should be clearly defined, assisted by practice guidelines.

BACKGROUND
Immunizing pharmacy technicians (IPTs) have become more prevalent in recent years, but their impact on community pharmacy practice has yet to be determined.
OBJECTIVES
Determine the impact of implementing IPTs on vaccination volume in a community pharmacy chain and assess pharmacy staff's perspectives on the clinical abilities of IPTs and their impact on pharmacy workflow and job satisfaction.
METHODS
Retrospective data analysis comparing the number of vaccines administered in a supermarket pharmacy chain from September to March 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 in pharmacies with IPT(s) versus those without IPT(s). For the secondary objective, investigators developed and deployed two role-based mixed quantitative/qualitative surveys among pharmacy staff.
RESULTS
Pharmacies with IPT(s) observed a greater mean increase in vaccination volume from 2019-2020 to 2020-2021 versus those without IPTs (+159.35 vs. +104.57, = 0.011). Among IPT survey respondents, 50/75 (66.7%) felt more satisfied with their job after receiving immunization training. Among pharmacist respondents, 80/119 (67.3%) felt that IPTs positively impacted their job satisfaction and 61.7% felt that pharmacist clinical services were either somewhat positively affected, or positively affected.
CONCLUSION
Implementing IPTs can increase the volume of vaccines administered in a chain pharmacy and may positively affect job satisfaction and pharmacy workflow.

To support the successful integration of community pharmacies into value-based care models, research on the feasibility and effectiveness of novel pharmacist-provided patient care services is needed. The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, supported by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation, designed the Community-based Valued-driven Care Initiative (CVCI) to (1) identify effective value-based patient care interventions that could be provided by community pharmacists, (2) implement and evaluate the feasibility of the selected patient care interventions, and (3) develop resources and create collaborative sustainability opportunities. The purpose of this manuscript is to describe recruitment strategies for CVCI and share lessons learned. The project team identified pharmacies for recruitment through a mixed data analysis followed by a "fit" evaluation. A total of 42 pharmacy organizations were identified for recruitment, 24 were successfully contacted, and 9 signed on to the project. During recruitment, pharmacies cited concerns regarding the financial sustainability of implementing and delivering the patient care services, challenges with staffing and infrastructure, and pharmacists' comfort level. To foster participation, it was vital to have leadership buy-in, clear benefits from implementation, and assured sustainability beyond the research period.

Drug shortages are a global and complex issue having negative impacts on patients, pharmacists, and the broader health care system. Using sales data from 22 Canadian pharmacies and historical drug shortage data, we built machine learning models predicting shortages for the majority of the drugs in the most-dispensed interchangeable groups in Canada. When breaking drug shortages into four classes (none, low, medium, high), we were able to correctly predict the shortage class with 69% accuracy and a kappa value of 0.44, one month in advance, without access to any inventory data from drug manufacturers and suppliers. We also predicted 59% of the shortages deemed to be most impactful (given the demand for the drugs and the potential lack of interchangeable options). The models consider many variables, including the average days of a drug supply per patient, the total days of a drug supply, previous shortages, and the hierarchy of drugs within different drug groups and therapeutic classes. Once in production, the models will allow pharmacists to optimize their orders and inventories, and ultimately reduce the impact of drug shortages on their patients and operations.

BACKGROUND
Educational supervision plays a vital role in postgraduate medical education and more recently in pharmacy and advanced clinical practitioner training in England. Proctor's three-function model of clinical supervision (consisting of formative, restorative, and normative functions) is assumed to apply to educational supervision, but this has not been tested empirically. The aim of this study was to establish perceptions of the purpose of educational supervision from the perspective of primary care pharmacy professionals enrolled on a national training pathway in England.
METHODS
Using a mixed methods design, data were collected using a validated 25-item online survey and respondents were invited to add comments explaining their responses. The survey was sent to all 902 learners enrolled on a postgraduate training pathway for pharmacy professionals working in primary care. Principal components analysis (PCA) was used to interpret patterns in the survey data, and framework analysis of qualitative free text comments was used to identify themes and aid interpretation of quantitative findings.
RESULTS
One hundred eighty-seven pharmacy professionals responded (response rate 20.7%). PCA extracted three factors explaining 71.5% of the total variance. Factor 1 corresponded with survey items linked to the formative function of Proctor's model, while factor 2 corresponded with survey items linked to the restorative function. No items corresponded with the normative function. Framework analysis of qualitative free-text comments identified two themes: learning support, which corresponded with factor 1; and personal support, which corresponded with factor 2.
CONCLUSIONS
This study identified that pharmacy professionals perceived educational supervision to perform two functions, formative (educational) and restorative (pastoral), but did not perceive it to perform a normative (surveillance) function. Educational supervision has the potential to support allied health professionals advancing their roles and we suggest the need for more research to develop models of effective educational supervision which can inform practice.

BACKGROUND
Private pharmacies are the first point of contact for the public regarding acquisition of medicines and other pharmaceuticals in many low- and middle-income countries including Uganda. Most antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programmes in Uganda have targeted pharmacies in public health facilities, with little known about private pharmacies. This study explored knowledge and practices related to AMS in private pharmacies in Wakiso district, central Uganda.
METHODS
This was a qualitative study that involved 31 in-depth interviews to explore AMS among retail private pharmacy staff including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians/dispensers, and nurses. Participants were asked about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and AMS practices at their pharmacy. The audio-recorded interviews were transcribed verbatim and imported to NVivo 2020 (QSR International) for thematic analysis.
RESULTS
Five major themes emerged from the study: commonly sold antimicrobials; knowledge on AMR and AMS; potential contributors to AMR; practices related to AMS; and challenges to AMS. The commonly sold antimicrobials in the pharmacies with or without prescriptions were oral azithromycin, Ampiclox (ampicillin and cloxacillin), amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin, Septrin (co-trimoxazole), metronidazole, Flucamox (amoxicillin and flucloxacillin), Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid), cephalexin, doxycycline, and chloramphenicol. Participants had heard about AMR but not AMS, although only a few correctly defined AMR. Lack of knowledge among health workers and local communities; the overuse, misuse, and abuse of antimicrobials such as non-adherence to dosage; self-medication; and purchase of drugs without prescription were identified as potential accelerators to the emergence of AMR. Current practices related to AMS in private pharmacies were limited to meetings, antimicrobial dispensing, providing client advice, record keeping, and monitoring of drugs. Cost of healthcare, client satisfaction and retention, outdated guidelines, and the business orientation of pharmacies were the main challenges related to AMS.
CONCLUSION
There was poor knowledge of AMR and AMS, and limited AMS practices in private pharmacies. Private pharmacies have the potential to contribute to Uganda's fight against AMR if motivated and equipped with adequate knowledge to enhance their practices related to AMS.

The use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has revolutionized the provision of health services, often referred to as eHealth, benefiting community pharmacies that can offer new services in innovative formats, namely through telepharmacy. This study aimed to explore the perceptions of pharmacy professionals (i.e., pharmacists and pharmacy technicians) on the provision of new services. The study consisted of administering an online questionnaire to pharmacy professionals nationwide. The questionnaire was developed by the research team, based on focus group methodology, from which an inductive analysis led to the categories that made up the dimensions of the survey. Participants were 95 pharmacy professionals with a mean age of 33.69 years old ( = 10.75). Almost 79% were women. The results show overall receptivity to the development of new services in community pharmacies. Suggestions for the development of the new services, conditions necessary for their implementation, potential obstacles, and strategies to promote adherence to the new services, among others, are identified. The knowledge thus acquired will help community pharmacies to develop innovative solutions in counselling, pharmacotherapy monitoring, and pharmacovigilance, for example, of herb/dietary supplement-drug adverse reactions and interactions. Based on this information, new services can become more accessible, namely through the use of ICTs.

Reliability and validity of the Malay version of the drive-thru community pharmacy service questionnaire and the Malaysian public's awareness, attitudes, and perceptions of drive-thru community pharmacy during COVID-19.
INTRODUCTION
Understanding general public's experiences of using drive-thru pharmacies during COVID-19 in different countries is imperative for establishing these services by standardizing global guidelines for drive-thru pharmacies. The objectives of this study were to validate a Malay version of the drive-thru community pharmacy service questionnaire for use among Malaysians and to obtain a better understanding of the public's awareness, attitudes, and perceptions of drive-thru community pharmacy service during COVID-19.
METHODS
This study was a cross-sectional study, conducted online using a Google form survey using a convenient sampling method among the Malaysian public. The English version of the drive-thru community pharmacy service questionnaire was translated into the Malay language according to international guidelines. The content and face validity of the questionnaire were examined by experts. Then, the questionnaire was pilot tested on 15 native speakers. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficients. The test-retest reliability was measured with Cohen's κ coefficient.
RESULTS
A total of 519 participants completed the questionnaire. Face and content validity were satisfactory, as noticed by both the experts and pilot study participants. For test-retest reliability (32 participants), most perception statements had very good coefficient agreement values. Cronbach's alpha of the perception part was 0.833, indicating strong internal consistency. The median age of study participants was 50.0 (IQR = 31.0) and about half of them were females (50.3%, n = 261). Despite 20.4% (n = 106) of the participants reported that the drive-thru community pharmacy service was available in their cities, only 10.4% (n = 54) reported using it. Most participants were in favor of introducing drive-thru services in community pharmacies throughout the country. Drive-thru community pharmacies, according to more than half of the participants (n = 394), would be beneficial to the public. Participants acknowledged that community pharmacies with drive-thru services were useful during the COVID-19 and quarantine periods due to the enhanced social distance 43.5% (n = 226), reduced the spread of the COVID-19 virus 47.0% (n = 244), and relieved pressure on other healthcare settings 38.2% (n = 198).
CONCLUSIONS
The translated questionnaire was valid and reliable in assessing the perceptions toward drive-thru community pharmacy service during COVID-19 in Malaysia. The participants expressed good awareness and favorable attitudes and perceptions toward drive-thru community pharmacy service during COVID-19. Furthermore, they perceived those services helped to increase social isolation and stop the COVID-19 virus from spreading.
