Despite swallowing being a frequently performed daily function, it is highly complex. For a safe swallow to occur, muscles within the head, neck, and thorax need to contract in a concerted pattern, controlled by several swallowing centers at multiple levels of the central nervous system, including the midbrain, cerebral cortex, and cerebellum in addition to five cranial nerves. Dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing, is caused by a long list of pathologic processes and diseases, which can interfere with various stages along the swallowing sensorimotor pathway. When present, dysphagia leads to increased mortality, morbidity, hospital length of stay, and reduced quality of life. Current dysphagia management approaches, such as altering the texture and consistency of foods and fluids and teaching patients rehabilitative exercises, have been broadly unchanged for many years and, in the case of texture modification, are of uncertain effectiveness. However, evidence is emerging in support of new medication-based and neuromodulatory treatment approaches. Regarding medication-based therapies, most research has focused on capsaicinoids, which studies have shown are able to improve swallowing in patients with post-stroke dysphagia. Separately, albeit convergently, in the field of neuromodulation, there is a growing and positive evidential base behind three non-invasive brain stimulation techniques: repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS), and pharyngeal electrical stimulation (PES). Should some or all of these emerging therapies fulfill their promise, dysphagia-related patient outcomes may be improved. This paper describes the current state of our understanding regarding new medication and neuromodulation-based neurogenic oropharyngeal dysphagia treatments.

Hippocampal plasticity is closely related to physiological brain functions such as learning and memory. However, the effect of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) activation on hippocampal plasticity after neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic brain damage (HIBD) remains unclear. In our study, seven-day-old rat pups were randomly categorised into three groups: control, hypoxic-ischemia (HI), and HI + TAK-242 (TAK-242). The pups were ligated in the left common carotid artery and then subjected to hypoxia to establish the neonatal HIBD model.The expression of the TLR4 in the left hippocampus of the HI group was increased compared to the control group, while TAK-242 reduced the expression level at 3 days after HIBD. Additionally, TAK-242 reversed the increased Zea-Longa score, increased the left/right hippocampal weight ratio, and increased the number of Nissl-positive neurons in the hippocampal CA1 region compared to HI group at 3 days after HIBD. Pre-injection of TAK-242 alleviated the decrease in PSD95, Aggrecan and NR1, BDNF, CREB, and pCREB expression in the hippocampus at 24 h after HIBD. It also alleviated the decrease in PSD95, BDNF, and NR2A/NR1 expression in the hippocampus at 7 days after HIBD. Furthermore, Pre-injection of TAK-242 alleviated the decrease in NR2A/NR1 expression at 21 days after HIBD. Finally,TAK-242 increased the percentage of third-grade dendritic mushroom spines processes in the basal and apical segments of neurons in the hippocampal CA1 region at 21 days after HIBD.Therefore, we conclude that preinhibition of TLR4 prior to neonatal HIBD improved the plasticity of the hippocampus.

PURPOSE
Partners of breast cancer (BC) survivors report high rates of psychological distress including fear of cancer recurrence (FCR). Research suggests that partners may have poorer physical health outcomes than the general population, but little research has examined the physiological biomarkers by which distress may impact partner health outcomes. The current study examined the associations between FCR and changes in hair cortisol among BC partners.
METHODS
Male partners (N = 73) of early-stage BC survivors provided hair samples during two visits, one after completion of survivors' adjuvant treatment (T1) and again 6 months later (T2). Two subscales from the Fear of Cancer Recurrence Inventory and one subscale from the Concerns about Recurrence Scale comprised a latent FCR factor at T1. A latent change score model was used to examine change in cortisol as a function of FCR.
RESULTS
Partners were on average 59.65 years of age (SD = 10.53) and non-Hispanic White (83%). Latent FCR at T1 was positively associated (b = 0.08, SE = 0.03, p = .004, standardized β = .45) with change in latent hair cortisol from T1 to T2.
CONCLUSIONS
Results indicated that greater FCR was associated with increases in hair cortisol in the months following adjuvant treatment. This is one of the first studies to examine the physiological correlates of FCR that may impact health outcomes in BC partners.
IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS
Findings highlight the need for further research into the relationship between FCR and its physiological consequences. Interventions to address partner FCR are needed and may aid in improving downstream physical health outcomes.

Diet and physical activity guidelines for cancer survivorship are less likely to be followed by populations of minority cancer survivors, such as Latina/Hispanic women, compared to non-Hispanic White women. It is important to understand psychosocial mechanisms that may increase adherence to healthy lifestyle habits, especially in populations at risk for poorer cancer outcomes. This cross-sectional study examined the relationships between overall social support (SS) and SS from three sources (family, friends, and significant other) with diet (fruit and vegetables, fat, energy density, and diet quality), and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) behaviors in Latina/Hispanic women with a history of breast cancer (n = 85; M age = 55.2; SD = 9.2). Linear regression models and odds ratios were used to examine associations and adjusted for age, income, and acculturation. Family, significant other, and total SS were positively related to total fruit and vegetable intake but SS from friends was not. Higher levels of SS from all sources were each related to a low energy density diet. A higher quality diet was only related to SS from family. SS was not related to fat intake or MVPA. Higher SS from family and a significant other were associated with higher odds of meeting the fruit/vegetable guidelines; (family, OR = 3.72, 95% CI [1.21, 11.39]; significant other, OR = 3.32, 95% CI [1.08, 10.30]). Having more SS from family or a significant other may contribute to Latina/Hispanic women breast cancer survivors meeting national guidelines for a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in energy density.

BACKGROUND
Limited data exist for global prevalence of claudin 18 isoform 2 (CLDN18.2) positivity and association of CLDN18.2 status with clinical and tumor characteristics in patients with locally advanced (LA) unresectable or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction (mG/GEJ) adenocarcinoma. We report prevalence of CLDN18.2 positivity (phase 3; SPOTLIGHT, NCT03504397; GLOW, NCT03653507) and concordance of CLDN18.2 status between a subset of pair-matched tumor samples (phase 2, ILUSTRO, NCT03505320; phase 1, NCT03528629) from clinical studies of zolbetuximab.
METHODS
Tumor samples from patients with LA unresectable or mG/GEJ adenocarcinoma were tested for CLDN18.2 status by immunohistochemistry. Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) expression was tested per central or local assessment.
RESULTS
Across SPOTLIGHT and GLOW, the prevalence of CLDN18.2 positivity (≥ 75% of tumor cells demonstrating moderate-to-strong membranous CLDN18 staining) was 38.4%. Prevalence was similar in gastric versus GEJ adenocarcinoma samples and regardless of collection method (biopsy versus resection) or collection site (primary versus metastatic). CLDN18.2 positivity was most prevalent in patients with diffuse-type tumors. In ILUSTRO and the phase 1 study, concordance of CLDN18.2 positivity was 61.1% between archival (i.e., any time before treatment) and baseline (i.e., ≤ 3 months before first treatment) samples, and concordance of any CLDN18 staining (≥ 1% of tumor cells demonstrating moderate-to-strong membranous CLDN18 staining) was 88.9%.
CONCLUSIONS
CLDN18.2 was a highly prevalent biomarker in patients with HER2-negative, LA unresectable or mG/GEJ adenocarcinoma. CLDN18.2 positivity remained relatively stable over time in many patients. Biomarker testing for CLDN18.2 should be considered in standard clinical practice in these patients.

Cognitive Reserve (CR) reflects acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities throughout life, and it is known for modulating cognitive efficiency in healthy and clinical populations. CR, which was initially proposed to explain individual differences in the clinical presentation of dementia, has subsequently been extended to healthy ageing, showing its role in cognitive efficiency also during middle age. Recently, CR has been linked to affective processes in psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia, major depressive and anxiety symptoms, and psychological distress, suggesting its potential role in emotional expression and regulation. Whether the role of CR in mental health extends to non-pathological adults, and whether this is only relevant in older age is not yet clear. The aim of this work was therefore to explore the relationship between CR and mental health in healthy adults, with a focus on middle adulthood (40-60). In a sample of 96 participants, we found a positive association between CR and mental health outcomes, such that a higher cognitive reserve index corresponded to fewer mental health reported symptoms. Specifically, a higher CR reflecting professional activities was associated with lower stress levels, especially in middle agers. Taken together, these data therefore suggest that engaging occupations may help maintain a robust mental health, especially by reducing stress symptoms during middle age. These results broaden previous findings suggesting that CR relates to affective components of mental health in middle aged and older adults.

Oral HPV infection is the main risk factor for the development of oropharyngeal carcinoma. Men who have sex with men (MSM), especially if living with HIV (PLWH), are at increased risk of infection and consequently of cancer development. Aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of nonavalent vaccine on oral HPV infection in a cohort of MSM and transgender women (TGW). This prospective study included all MSM and TGW who started nonavalent HPV vaccination from May 2019 to September 2021. Oral rinse was collected before each vaccine administration and after six months of follow up. Descriptive statistics were used. Kaplan Meier probability curves and Cox regression models for HPV acquisition and clearance were calculated. The analysis included 211 individuals (202 MSM and 9 TGW). PLWH were 138 (65.4%). Baseline oral rinse was positive in 30 subjects (14.2%). Positivity rate did not change over time (p = 0.742), even when restricting the analysis only to high-risk genotypes (p = 0.575) and to genotypes covered by vaccine (p = 0.894). The risk to acquire HPV infection was 12.8% at one year and 33.4% at two years after vaccination. The probability to clear the infection was 67.6% at one year and 87.9% at two years. HIV infection had no impact on vaccine efficacy. Age above 45 years was the only factor associated to HPV acquisition (aHR 4.06, 95% CI 1.03-15.98, p = 0.045). Prevalence of oral HPV infection was higher in PLWH, but HIV had no impact on viral clearance or acquisition after vaccination.

OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the diagnostic value of Ga-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for intracapsular prostate cancer with a poor prognosis (PPC) and no extracapsular invasion or distant metastasis.
METHODS
The PET/CT images and clinical data of 221 patients were retrospectively analyzed. These patients all had clear pathological results. The maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) of the main lesions was measured at the postprocessing workstation and was tested for correlation with the pathological score. The diagnostic accuracy was calculated using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and the best diagnostic threshold was calculated. The correlation between SUVmax and the International Society of Urological Pathology Grade Group (GG) was also analyzed.
RESULTS
The pathological results of the 221 patients were 48 benign lesions and 173 malignant lesions, including 81 PPC. Low-, intermediate-, and high-risk prostate cancers made up 21.97% (38/173), 54.33% (94/173), and 23.70% (41/173) of the malignant lesions, respectively. SUVmax and GG were positively correlated (r = 0.54, P < 0.01). The best SUVmax thresholds for Ga-PSMA PET/CT for the diagnosis of intracapsular PC and PPC were 7.95 and 13.94, respectively; the specificities were 0.83 and 0.85, the negative predictive values were 0.55 and 0.87, and the areas under the ROC curves were 0.88 and 0.88, respectively.
CONCLUSION
Ga-PSMA PET/CT has high specificity and NPV in the diagnosis of intracapsular PPC, but the sensitivity for the diagnosis of intracapsular low-risk PC is low, which may cause some cases to be undetected.

Radioactive nuclides cesium (Cs) and strontium (Sr) possess long half-lives, with Cs at approximately 2.3 million years and Sr at about 49 billion years. Their persistent accumulation can result in long-lasting radioactive contamination of soil ecosystems. This study employed geo-accumulation index (I), pollution load index (PLI), potential ecological risk index (PEPI), health risk assessment model (HRA), and Monte Carlo simulation to evaluate the pollution and health risks of Cs and Sr in the surface soil of different functional areas in a typical mining city in China. Positive matrix factorization (PMF) model was used to elucidate the potential sources of Cs and Sr and the respective contribution rates of natural and anthropogenic sources. The findings indicate that soils in the mining area exhibited significantly higher levels of Cs and Sr pollution compared to smelting factory area, agricultural area, and urban residential area. Strontium did not pose a potential ecological risk in any studied functional area. The non-carcinogenic health risk of Sr to the human body in the study area was relatively low. Because of the lack of parameters for Cs, the potential ecological and human health risks of Cs was not calculated. The primary source of Cs in the soil was identified as the parent material from which the soil developed, while Sr mainly originated from associated contamination caused by mining activities. This research provides data for the control of Cs and Sr pollution in the surface soil of mining city.

Understanding the spatiotemporal changes in net primary productivity (NPP) and the driving factors behind these changes in climate-vulnerable regions is crucial for ecological conservation. This study simulates the actual NPP (NPPA) and climate potential NPP (NPPC) in the Three-River Headwaters Region from 2000 to 2020. The Theil-Sen Median method and Mann-Kendall mutation analyses are employed to explore their spatiotemporal variation patterns, while geographic weighted regression and machine learning are used to investigate the influence of anthropogenic activities and climatic factors on NPPA, the results indicate that the average NPPA across the entire region over multiple years is 382.506 , which is 0.132 times the average annual NPPC over the past 21 years, showing an overall distribution pattern of low in the northwest and high in the southeast. The annual increase in NPPA from 2000 to 2020 is approximately 1.034 . The source region of the Yangtze River shows the largest improvement in vegetation, with 74.1% of the area showing improvement. Between 2002 and 2003, the annual NPPA in the Three-River Headwaters Region experienced a sudden change, lagging behind the NPPC change by 1 year, and after 2005, the upward trend in NPPA became more pronounced. The impact of anthropogenic activities on NPPA shifted from positive to negative to positive from 2000 to 2020, with significant impact areas mainly concentrated in the northeast and a few areas in the central and southern parts. The proportion of areas with extremely significant impact increased from 1.9% in 2000 to 3.7% in 2020. Over the past 21 years, the main factors influencing NPPA changes in the Three-River Headwaters Region have been soil moisture and precipitation, with the influence of different climate factors on NPP changing over time. Additionally, NPP is more sensitive to changes in altitude in low-altitude areas. This study can provide more accurate theoretical support for ecological environment assessment and subsequent protection efforts in the Three-River Headwaters Region.
