The purpose of this study was to analyse whether contextual (perception of motivational climate and positive and negative spontaneous self-talk in sports), personal (positivity) and situational variables (positive and negative spontaneous self-talk employed in competition and precompetitive anxiety) predict performance in a competition of ensembles of rhythmic gymnastics. 258 female gymnasts between ages14 and 20 (M = 15.24, SD = 1.46) participated in the study, completing pre- and post-competition measures. The results of the path-analysis showed that both the task-involving climate and positivity predicted positive self-talk in sport. This predicted self-confidence which, in turn, positively predicted positive situational self-talk in competition. For its part, the perception of an ego-involving climate positively predicted the use of both negative and positive self-talk in sport. Negative self-talk in sports predicted negative situational self-talk in competition and somatic and cognitive anxiety. In turn, cognitive anxiety positively predicted negative situational self-talk. Finally, performance was positively predicted by positive situational self-talk and negatively by negative situational self-talk. These results explain the functioning of spontaneous self-talk at different levels of generality and its relationship with sports performance.

Positive emotions are linked to numerous benefits, but not everyone appreciates the same kinds of positive emotional experiences. We examine how distinct positive emotions are perceived and whether individuals' perceptions are linked to how societies evaluate those emotions. Participants from Hong Kong and Netherlands rated 23 positive emotions based on their individual perceptions (positivity, arousal, and socially engaging) and societal evaluations (appropriate, valued, and approved of). We found that (1) there were cultural differences in judgments about all six aspects of positive emotions; (2) positivity, arousal, and social engagement predicted emotions being positively regarded at the societal level in both cultures; and (3) that positivity mattered more for the Dutch participants, although arousal and social engagement mattered more in Hong Kong for societal evaluations. These findings provide a granular map of the perception and evaluation of distinct positive emotions in two cultures and highlight the role of cultures in the understanding how positive emotions are perceived and evaluated.

In cervical cancer screening, HPV testing is best at reassuring women when they are negative, but proper management of HPV positives is still evolving. Most HPV infections are benign, and over-reacting clinically to HPV positivity can cause psychological and possible iatrogenic physical (e.g., obstetrical) harm. We describe the built-in false positives in current tests, and the real harm that can result when the meaning of such false positive HPV tests is misunderstood. We suggest steps that could reduce harm being done by flawed tests and excessive clinical responses to positive HPV testing. We focus the discussion by presenting an illustrative case.

BACKGROUND
Purkinje cytoplasmic autoantibody type 1 (PCA-1)/anti-Yo autoimmunity is a common high-risk paraneoplastic neurological disorder, traditionally attributed antigenically to cerebellar degeneration-related protein 2 (CDR2), predominantly affecting women with gynecologic or breast adenocarcinoma. Single-modality CDR2 testing may produce false-positive results. We assessed the performance characteristics of the more recently purported major PCA-1/Yo antigen, CDR2-like (CDR2L), side by side with CDR2, in a line blot format.
METHODS
CDR2 and CDR2L were tested in six specimen groups (serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)). Group 1, PCA-1/Yo mouse brain indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) positives; Group 2, PCA-1/Yo IFA mimics; Group 3, suspected CDR2 line blot false positives; Group 4, consecutive patient samples tested for neural antibodies over 1 year; Group 5, healthy subject serums; and Group 6, polyclonal (non-specific) immunoglobulin G (IgG)-positive serums.
RESULTS
Group 1: Of 64 samples tested, all but two were CDR2 positive (both CSF samples) and all were CDR2L positive. In individual patients, CDR2L values were always higher than CDR2. The two "CDR2L-only" positives were CSF samples with low titer PCA-1/Yo by IFA with serum negativity but with typical clinical phenotype. Group 2: All 51 PCA-1/Yo mimics were CDR2/CDR2L negative. Group 3: Nine samples [six of 1289 (0.47%) serums and three of 700 CSF samples (0.43%) were PCA-1/Yo IFA negative/CDR2 positive; two of the six available (serums from the same patient) were also CDR2L positive; the other four CDR2L negative had low CDR2 values (17-22). Group 4: Twenty-two patients had unexpected CDR2 or CDR2L positivity; none had tissue IFA positivity. Eleven of the 2,132 serum (0.5%) and three of the 677 CSF (0.4%) samples were CDR2 positive; median value was 19 (range, 11-48). Seven of the 2,132 serum (0.3%) and three of the 677 CSF (0.4%) samples were CDR2L positive; median value was 18 (range, 11-96). Group 5: All 151 healthy serum samples were negative. Group 6: One of the 46 polyclonal serum samples was CDR2L positive. Optimum overall performance was accomplished by requiring both CDR2 and CDR2L positivity in serum (sensitivity, 100%; and specificity, 99.9%) and positivity for CDR2L in CSF (sensitivity, 100%; and specificity, 99.6%).
CONCLUSION
CDR2L provides additional PCA-1/anti-Yo sensitivity in CSF, and dual positivity with CDR2 provides additional specificity assurance in serum. Combining antigen-specific and tissue-based assays optimizes PCA-1/anti-Yo testing.

Depression is characterized by a pattern of maladaptive emotion regulation. Recently, researchers have begun to focus on associations between depression and two positive affect regulation strategies: savoring and dampening. Savoring, or upregulation of positive affect, is positively associated with well-being and negatively associated with depression, whereas dampening, or downregulation of positive affect, is positively associated with depression, anhedonia, and negative affect. To date, no research has examined whether savoring or dampening can affect neurophysiological reactivity to reward, which previous research has shown is associated with symptoms of depression. Here, we examined associations between psychophysiological reward processing-primarily captured by the Reward Positivity (RewP), an event-related potential (ERP) deflection elicited by feedback indicating reward (vs. nonreward)-positive affect regulation strategies, and symptoms of depression. One hundred undergraduates completed questionnaires assessing affect, emotion regulation, and depressive symptoms and completed a computerized guessing task, once before and again after being randomly assigned to emotion-regulation strategy conditions. Results indicate that (a) the relationship between RewP amplitude and depressive symptoms may, in part, depend upon positive affect regulation strategies and (b) the RewP elicited by reward appears sensitive to a savoring intervention. These findings suggest that mitigating depressive symptoms in emerging adults may depend on both top-down (i.e., savoring) and bottom-up (i.e., RewP) forms of positive affect regulation and have important implications for clinical prevention and intervention efforts for depressive symptoms and disorder. The BacT/Alert system has been used for detecting the presence of bacteria in various clinical settings as well as in blood services, but it is associated with a relatively high incidence of false-positive results. We analyzed the results of our quality control sterility testing of blood products by BacT/Alert 3D to understand the mechanism of false-positive results. Anaerobic and aerobic bottles were inoculated with 10 mL of samples and cultured in BacT/Alert 3D for 10 days. Positive-reaction cases were classified as true positive if any bacterium was identified or false positive if the identification test had a negative result. The detection algorithm and the bottle graph pattern of the positive reaction cases were investigated. Among the 43,374 samples, 25 true positives (0.06%) and 29 false positives (0.07%) were observed. Although the detection algorithm of all true positives and 25 of 29 false positives was accelerating production of CO, a steep rise in the bottle graph was observed only in the true positives, and it was not observed in either of the false positives. Four of 29 false positives were dependent on high baseline scatter reflections. Furthermore, evaluating the bottle graph pattern of Streptococcus pneumoniae, a bacterium known to autolyze, we confirmed that no viable bacterium was detected even if a steep rise was observed. In conclusion, the bottle graph pattern of positive reactions allows the differentiation between true positives and false positives. In case of a steep rise without bacterium detection, the bacterium might have autolyzed. Moreover, positive reactions with high baseline scatter reflections, despite immediate loading of bottles after sampling, are potentially false positive. In clinical settings, false-positive results are treated as positive until bacterial identification. It may result in the discarding of blood products in blood centers or affect clinical decisions in hospitals or testing facilities. Moreover, the management of these samples is usually time- and labor-consuming. The results of our study may help clinicians and laboratory staff in making a more precise evaluation of positive reactions in BacT/Alert.

BACKGROUND
Lymphatic filariasis (LF) has been targeted for global elimination as a public health problem since 1997. The primary strategy to interrupt transmission is annual mass drug administration (MDA) for ≥5 years. The transmission assessment survey (TAS) was developed as a decision-making tool to measure LF antigenemia in children to determine when MDA in a region can be stopped. The objective of this study was to investigate potential sampling strategies for follow-up of LF-positive children identified in TAS to detect evidence of ongoing transmission.
METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPLE FINDINGS
Nippes Department in Haiti passed TAS 1 with 2 positive cases and stopped MDA in 2015; however, 8 positive children were found during TAS 2 in 2017, which prompted a more thorough assessment of ongoing transmission. Purposive sampling was used to select the closest 50 households to each index case household, and systematic random sampling was used to select 20 households from each index case census enumeration area. All consenting household members aged ≥2 years were surveyed and tested for circulating filarial antigen (CFA) using the rapid filarial test strip and for Wb123-specific antibodies using the Filaria Detect IgG4 ELISA. Among 1,927 participants, 1.5% were CFA-positive and 4.5% were seropositive. CFA-positive individuals were identified for 6 of 8 index cases. Positivity ranged from 0.4-2.4%, with highest positivity in the urban commune Miragoane. Purposive sampling found the highest number of CFA-positives (17 vs. 9), and random sampling found a higher percent positive (2.4% vs. 1.4%).
CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE
Overall, both purposive and random sampling methods were reasonable and achievable methods of TAS follow-up in resource-limited settings. Both methods identified additional CFA-positives in close geographic proximity to LF-positive children found by TAS, and both identified strong signs of ongoing transmission in the large urban commune of Miragoane. These findings will help inform standardized guidelines for post-TAS surveillance.

In the current information age, SNSs (Social Network Sites) have been popular among young adolescents, and have also become a main manner to maintain social relationships. Against this background, based on relevant evidence, the present study aimed to examine the association between positive self-disclosure on SNSs and adolescents' friendship quality, as well as the underlying mechanism-the potential mediating role of perceived positive feedback and the moderating role of social anxiety. A sample of 1713 adolescents aged 11 to 19 was recruited to participate in this study, to complete a set of scales. Results indicated that positive self-disclosure on SNSs was positively associated with adolescents' friendship quality, and positive feedback significantly mediated the association between self-disclosure positivity and friendship quality. This mediating effect, moderated by social anxiety, could significantly moderate the mediating effect of positive feedback; specifically, compared with higher social anxiety adolescents, the association between positive self-disclosure and positive feedback was stronger among individuals with lower social anxiety. These findings may expand previous studies, with several theoretical and practical implications.

BACKGROUND
Brucellosis is a critical zoonotic disease in the world, it is the non-specific arthralgia that make brucellosis patients easily misdiagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in endemic regions. Elevated rheumatoid factor (RF) is an essential indicator of RA, and the RF in brucellosis patients is significantly higher than healthy people. Therefore, this study further explored the distribution of RF and the relevant factors of the RF positivity in brucellosis patients with arthralgia, in order to strengthen the recognition of physicians for brucellosis patients with RF positivity, especially in brucellosis-endemic areas, so as to avoid misdiagnosis and untimely treatment that may lead to malignant outcomes.
METHODOLOGY AND PRINCIPAL FINDINGS
The medical records of all 572 brucellosis inpatients were collected in the Sixth People's Hospital of Shenyang, China from 2015 to 2016. After excluding 106 patients without arthralgia, 5 patients who unwilling to perform RF testing and 16 patients with diseases that may affect RF, 445 brucellosis inpatients with arthralgia were involved in this retrospective cross-sectional study. 143 (32.1%) patients with RF >10 IU/ml were classified into the RF positive group, with an average level of 16.5[12.2, 34.7] IU/ml, of which 45 (10.1%) patients were high-positive with RF >30 IU/ml. Multivariate logistic regression model was used to further analyze the relevant factors of the RF positivity and found that age, wrist joint pain and elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) were positively associated with RF positivity, with OR of 1.02 (P = 0.024), 8.94 (P = 0.008) and 1.79 (P = 0.019), respectively.
CONCLUSION
The prevalence of positive RF in brucellosis patients with arthralgia was critical, nearly one-third of patients had RF positive. Elderly men brucellosis patients with arthralgia, wrist joint pain and elevated CRP were at high risk of positive RF. It is reminded that physicians should focus on differential diagnosis during clinical diagnosis and treatment, especially in brucellosis-endemic regions.

Evaluation of the Liquid Colony™ Produced by the FAST System for Shortening the Time of Bacterial Identification and Phenotypic Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing and Detection of Resistance Mechanisms from Positive Blood Cultures.
BACKGROUND
the aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of the Liquid Colony™ (LC) generated directly from positive blood cultures (PBCs) by the FAST System (Qvella, Richmond Hill, ON, Canada) for rapid identification (ID) and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) compared with the standard of care (SOC) workflow.
METHODS
Anonymized PBCs were processed in parallel by the FAST System and FAST PBC Prep cartridge (35 min runtime) and SOC. ID was performed by MALDI-ToF mass spectrometry (Bruker, Billerica, MA, USA). AST was performed by reference broth microdilution (Merlin Diagnostika, Bornheim, Germany). Carbapenemase detection was carried out with the lateral flow immunochromatographic assay (LFIA) RESIST-5 O.O.K.N.V. (Coris, Gembloux, Belgium). Polymicrobial PBCs and samples containing yeast were excluded.
RESULTS
241 PBCs were evaluated. ID results showed 100% genus-level concordance and 97.8% species-level concordance between LC and SOC. The AST results for Gram-negative bacteria showed a categorical agreement (CA) of 99.1% (1578/1593), with minor error (mE), major error (ME), and very major error (VME) rates of 0.6% (10/1593), 0.3% (3/1122), and 0.4% (2/471), respectively. The results from Gram-positive bacteria showed a CA of 99.6% (1655/1662), with mE, ME, and VME rates of 0.3% (5/1662), 0.2% (2/1279), and 0.0% (0/378), respectively. Bias evaluation revealed acceptable results for both Gram-negatives and Gram-positives (-12.4% and -6.5%, respectively). The LC yielded the detection of 14/18 carbapenemase producers by LFIA. In terms of turnaround time, the ID, AST, and carbapenemase detection results were generally obtained one day earlier with the FAST System compared with the SOC workflow.
CONCLUSIONS
The ID, AST, and carbapenemase detection results generated with the FAST System LC were highly concordant with the conventional workflow. The LC allowed species ID and carbapenemase detection within around 1 h after blood culture positivity and AST results within approximately 24 h, which is a significant reduction in the turnaround time of the PBC workflow.
