The bicipital groove is a groove on the anterior aspect of the proximal end of the humerus. It lies between the greater and lesser tubercles. The variations of this groove may lead to various pathologies of the biceps brachii tendon, one of the most common causes of shoulder pain. Hence, this study examines the various osteometric parameters of bicipital groove in the Bangladeshi population. This cross-sectional descriptive study was done on 100 dry adult human cadaveric humeri (43 right sides and 57 left sides) in the Department of Anatomy, Mymensingh Medical College, Bangladesh from July 2021 to June 2022. The length, maximum width and depth of the bicipital groove and the length of this groove's medial and lateral walls were measured using a digital Vernier slide caliper. Data were recorded in a predesigned data sheet separately and analyzed statistically using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. According to the present study, the mean±SD length of the bicipital groove of the right humeri was 66.646±11.563mm and the left humeri were 66.002±13.025mm. The mean±SD maximum width of the bicipital groove of the right humeri was 10.870±1.799mm and the left humeri were 11.480±1.402mm. The mean±SD depth of the bicipital groove of the right humeri was 4.242±0.655mm and the left humeri were 4.452±0.854mm. The mean±SD medial wall length of the bicipital groove of the right humeri was 60.671±12.360mm and the left humeri were 59.161±13.660mm. The mean±SD lateral wall length of the bicipital groove of the right-sided humeri was 64.996±11.611mm and the left humeri were 64.074±13.115mm. It is expected that this osteometric study of bicipital groove among the Bangladeshi population will be very helpful for clinical anatomists, orthopaedic surgeons, anthropologists and radiologists.

The estimation of distances and angles is a routine part of an orthopedic surgical procedure. However, despite their prevalence, these steps are most often performed manually, heavily relying on the surgeon's skill and experience. To address these issues, this study presents a sensor-equipped drill system which enables automatic estimation of the drilling angle and channel length. The angular accuracy and precision of the system were tested over a range of inclination angles and proved to be superior to the manual approach, with mean absolute errors ranging from 1.9 to 4.5 degrees for the manual approach, and from 0.6 to 1.3 degrees with the guided approach. When sensors were used for simultaneous estimation of both the inclination and anteversion angles, the obtained mean absolute errors were 0.35 ± 0.25 and 2 ± 1.33 degrees for the inclination and anteversion angles, respectively. Regarding channel length estimation, using measurements obtained with a Vernier caliper as a reference, the mean absolute error was 0.33 mm and the standard deviation of errors was 0.41 mm. The obtained results indicate a high potential of smart drill systems for improvement of accuracy and precision in orthopedic surgical procedures, enabling better patient clinical outcomes.

This present study investigated how heat treatment affects the mechanical properties of 3D-printed black carbon fiber HTPLA by manipulating two parameters: heating temperature and holding time. The mechanical properties of 3D-printed black carbon fiber HTPLA components are crucial for assessing their structural integrity and performance. The shrinkage and dimensional accuracy of the 3D-printed parts were also explored using a vernier caliper. The microstructure of both heat-treated and non-heat-treated HTPLA black carbon fiber 3D-printed parts was examined using scanning electron microscopy. Samples were prepared, printed, heat-treated, and mechanically tested, and their microstructure was observed and recorded. The results showed that heat treatment improved the material's strength, hardness, and crystallinity, leading to better mechanical properties. However, statistical analysis indicates no clear evidence that the two factors, optimum heating temperature and holding time, affect the mechanical properties of heat-treated printed parts. Nonetheless, further study suggests that these factors might be important in optimizing the heat treatment process.

INTRODUCTION
Assessment of genitalia is an important part of the neonatal examination. Regional, racial, and ethnic variations in phallic length have been documented. Clitoral dimensions may also show similar variations. Normal values for neonatal clitoral measurements may help the pediatrician/neonatologist to accurately diagnose clitoromegaly and underlying etiology to guide appropriate investigations. Data on clitoral measurements is limited with only one study from India (Kolkata). Hence we aimed in this study to generate south Indian data on neonatal clitoral dimensions, anogenital distance, and anogenital ratio. Two hundred and fifty two hemodynamically stable term female neonates without ambiguous genitalia/vulval masses born in a community hospital. Hospital-based cross-sectional study. 1. To measure clitoral dimensions, anogenital distance, and anogenital ratio in female neonates. 2. To correlate clitoral dimensions, anogenital distance, and ratio with anthropometric measurements, gestational age, and maternal comorbidities.
METHODS
Measurements were recorded using a digital vernier caliper, under strict aseptic precautions with labia majora gently separated and the baby held in a frog-leg position. Clitoral length, width, and anogenital distance were measured and anogenital ratio and clitoral index were calculated.
RESULTS
In term neonates, the mean ± SD of clitoral length (CL), clitoral width (CW), anogenital ratio (AGR) were 6.34 ± 1.75 mm, 6.39 ± 1.27 mm and 0.39 ± 0.05, respectively. The 3 and 97 centiles for mean clitoral length were 3.55 and 9.93 mm, for mean clitoral width were 3.37 and 8.35 mm, and for AGR were 0.28 and 0.48, respectively. These clitoral dimensions in south Indian neonates were higher than those from East India (Kolkata), lower than Nigerian babies, and similar to Israeli neonates. Mean CL and CW had no statistical correlation with birth weight, gestational age, head circumference, or length in term neonates. A significant correlation was noted between pregnancy-induced hypertension and mean clitoral width, and between gestational diabetes and AGR.
CONCLUSION
Normative values for clitoral dimensions (length and width) and AGR for south Indian term female neonates have been established. 97 centiles of 9.93 mm (CL) and 8.35 mm (CW) and 0.48 mm (AGR) may be used as practical cut-offs to diagnose clitoromegaly and virilization. Clitoral measurements had no statistical correlation with birth weight, gestational age, or anthropometry. Clitoral measurements exhibit ethnic and racial differences, thus emphasizing the importance of regional cut-offs and need for more studies from different parts of India on CL.

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a surgical procedure to treat severe knee osteoarthritis. Among several techniques available for performing TKA, imageless TKA is known for achieving precise alignment while minimizing invasiveness. This work proposes a comprehensive algorithm for imageless TKA device to calculate the varus/valgus and flexion/extension angles, as well as resection depths for cutting planes at distal femur and proximal tibia. Moreover, the algorithm calculates the hip-knee-ankle (HKA) and flexion angles of the leg. Initially, the proposed algorithm was validated in a virtual environment using a CT-scanned bone model in Solidworks. Subsequently, for the real-world validation, a SoftBone model was resected with conventional intra and extramedullary rods and cross-checked with the proposed algorithm. For the third validation, another SoftBone model was resected with the proposed algorithm and cuts were measured with a vernier caliper. During this experiment, there was an error of approximately 1 mm for both femoral and tibial resection cases when using an infrared camera with an accuracy of ±0.5 mm. However, this error could be reduced using an infrared camera with higher accuracy.

This paper introduces a comprehensive dataset focusing on the surface roughness and dimensional accuracy of 3D printed specimens derived from a hybrid manufacturing process. The design of these specimens incorporates surfaces oriented at 0˚, 45˚, and 90˚ angles for surface roughness testing, along with cylindrical, radial, and pocket areas to evaluate dimensional accuracy. Utilizing PLA material, the specimens undergo a printing phase followed by milling within the same machine, thereby enhancing both surface roughness and dimensional quality. Surface roughness data is gathered through a surface roughness tester, while dimensional accuracy is assessed using a digital vernier caliper. The dataset includes comparative analyses conducted before and after the hybrid manufacturing process, revealing notable improvements in both surface roughness and dimensional accuracy post-processing. These findings furnish valuable insights for researchers and engineers engaged in hybrid manufacturing processes involving PLA material, serving as a foundational resource for further investigations and advancements in the field.

INTRODUCTION
This study aimed to assess and compare dental arch widths in the anterior and posterior regions among patients undergoing extraction and non-extraction treatments for Class I and Class II malocclusions.
MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY
A total of 40 patients were selected, with 10 in each of the categorized groups based on malocclusion type and treatment status. Dental arch widths were meticulously measured using a digital Vernier caliper at the canine and molar regions to ensure precise data collection.
RESULTS
Statistically significant differences were noted when comparing mean inter-canine and molar widths between pre- and post-treatment periods among extraction cases in Class I malocclusion (p < 0.001). Conversely, there were no significant changes observed in arch widths among non-extraction cases in Class I malocclusion. Similarly, significant changes were observed in both extraction and non-extraction cases of Class II malocclusion when comparing mean inter-canine and molar widths between pre- and post-treatment periods (p < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
After treatment, both Class I and Class II extraction cases showed an increase in inter-canine arch width, while intermolar arch width remained unchanged, suggesting that the treatment did not significantly alter the buccal corridor. Additionally, there were no notable changes in inter-canine arch widths between pre- and post-treatment in Class I non-extraction cases. However, the Class II non-extraction group exhibited increased upper and lower inter-canine arch widths after treatment.

Observational Study
BACKGROUND
The goal was to determine the thickness and width of the knee joint meniscus at their different regions. The objective was to compare the dimensions at these regions and over the right- and left-sided specimens.
METHODS
The present study included 50 adult cadaveric knee joints, and 100 menisci (50 medial menisci and 50 lateral menisci) were studied. The meniscus was distributed into anterior, middle and posterior parts. Thickness and width at the mid-point of these three parts were determined by using the Vernier caliper.
RESULTS
The breadth of the medial meniscus was 8.38 ± 1.64 mm, 7.68 ± 1.92 mm and 13.93 ± 2.69 mm at the anterior, middle and posterior one-third regions. Same measurements for the lateral menisci at these regions were 9.84 ± 1.78 mm, 8.82 ± 2.01 mm and 10.18 ± 2.23 mm, respectively. The thickness of the medial meniscus was 4.49 ± 0.78 mm, 4.07 ± 0.81 mm and 4.79 ± 0.93 mm at these regions. The lateral meniscus thickness was 3.82 ± 0.69 mm, 4.43 ± 0.98 mm and 4.36 ± 0.8 mm, respectively.
CONCLUSION
It is believed that this data is enlightening to the arthroscopic surgeon during the meniscus transplantation either by using synthetic material or allograft as the proper sizing of the meniscus is important to prevent complications due to inaccurate sizing.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE
The most common injuries to upper cervical spine are fractures of the second cervical vertebrae. The study aims to evaluate the morphometry of the neural arch of the second cervical vertebrae in the South Indian population.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Sixty-three second cervical vertebrae of undetermined gender and age without any gross defect were used for the study. The dimensions of neural arch, including superior articular facet, inferior articular facet, pediculoisthmic component, lamina, spinous process, foramen transversarium, and vertebral foramen, were measured by two independent observers using digital vernier caliper accurate to 0.1 mm and the data was analyzed. Descriptive statistics were obtained for the variables. Paired t-test was done to compare the measurements between right and left sides.
RESULTS
There was no statistical difference between the right and left sides of the dimensions of superior articular facets, foramen transversarium, and the transverse diameter of inferior articular facet. The anteroposterior diameter of the inferior articular facets was more on the right side (P = 0.009). The width of the pediculoisthmic component in both the superior and inferior aspects was found to be less on the right side than that of the left (P = 0.006 and P = 0.031, respectively). The thickness in the middle one-third of laminae was optimum for bilateral safe screw insertion (≥4.0 mm) in 77% specimens.
CONCLUSION
In summary, measurements of the transverse diameter of superior articular facet and thickness of lamina differed significantly from those reported in literature. This should be kept in mind while doing neurosurgery procedures in the Indian population.

Okra ( (L.) Moecnh) is a versatile crop that is widely grown in western Ethiopia, despite that it is less researched. This study, therefore, investigates the traditional knowledge, nutritional, and morphological characteristics of two commonly grown okra varieties (Kenketse and Sharma) in west Ethiopia. A semi-structured questionnaire, checklist, and observations were used to collect primary data from households, key informants, and farms. In addition, proximate composition parameters like moisture content, total ash, crude fat, crude protein, crude fiber, utilizable carbohydrates, and gross energy fruits were measured through laboratory analysis. Fruit morphological traits, including fruit dimensions such as length and width, were determined using a digital Vernier caliper. For data analysis, SPSS software was used. The results revealed that the entire plant is used for both food and ethnomedicinal purposes. Curing ailments such as stomach pain, constipation, wound/cut, heart discomfort, back pain, malaria, diarrhea, and amoebae were among the medical benefits of okra. The proximate composition (%) on a dry matter basis of okra fruits differed significantly ( < .05) by cultivar type and drying method. Moisture (3.69%-5.24%), total ash (6.60%-8.01%), crude fat (4.87%-8.58%), crude protein (4.06%-5.23%), crude fiber (12.85%-15.26%), utilizable carbohydrate (56.42%-67.63%), and gross energy contents (326-341 kcal) were the ranges of the various proximate and energy levels. Morphological characteristics of fruit and leaf length, width, and length-to-width ratio varied with cultivar type, where Sharma had more than double the length of Kenketse (70.1 vs. 187.1 mm). Despite being an undervalued native vegetable crop in Ethiopia, the study's findings show that okra is a multipurpose vegetable for promoting human health and ensuring food and nutritional security. Therefore, stepping up its production, marketing, and consumption could help alleviate the food shortage and improve human nutrition and health in the study areas.
