The aim was to evaluate the quality of the sheep skin of different sex classes submitted to different levels of feed restriction. Sheep without defined racial pattern of different sex classes (15 non-castrated males, 15 castrated males and 15 females), with initial body weight of 18.1 ± 0.4 kg and mean age of 90 days were distributed in a factorial 3 × 3, with three sex classes and 3 levels of feed restriction (ad libitum intake and restricted intake at 70 and 80%), with 5 repetitions. After slaughter, the skins were collected for physical-mechanical tests. The effect of the sex classes x levels of dietary restriction interaction was observed for transverse thickness and longitudinal rupture elongation (p < 0.05). Animals fed ad libitum had greater longitudinal transverse thickness (p < 0.05). Animals fed ad libitum and 70% feed restriction showed greater transverse elongation at break (p < 0.05). As for the difference between sex classes in the transverse thickness variable for tearing strength, the interaction sex classes x levels of feed restriction for transverse thickness, longitudinal thickness, transverse tearing strength and longitudinal tearing strength occurred (p < 0.05). Feed restriction reduces the physical quality of the skin of sheep of different sex classes, and the use of castrated male sheep in positive energy balance is recommended to obtain leather with greater thickness, longitudinal rupture elongation and transverse tear strength.

BACKGROUND
Although uncommon, some individuals assigned male at birth (AMAB) seek voluntary genital ablative procedures, and others fantasize about it.
AIM
To learn more about the views of genital ablation and injuries in those who aspire to be castrated as compared with those who only fantasize about it.
METHODS
A survey was run on the Eunuch Archive internet community. Content analysis was conducted on the responses of 342 AMAB individuals with castration fantasy but no desire for actual surgery (fantasizers) vs 294 AMAB individuals who expressed a desire for genital ablation (aspiring).
OUTCOMES
Study outcomes were responses to open-ended questions about genital ablations and injury.
RESULTS
Aspiring individuals were more likely to perceive a "physical appearance benefit" from orchiectomy, but fewer could recall how they first learned about the procedure. Some reasons that aspiring persons gave for desiring an orchiectomy included "achieving preferred self" and "health reasons." Fantasizers, in contrast, worried about the potential side effects of orchiectomy, and more believed there to be no benefit to it.
CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS
Psychiatrists and other clinicians need to understand their patients' views on genital ablation to properly diagnose and provide the best personalized care.
STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS
Strengths include a large sample of respondents. Limitations include the accuracy of the anonymous survey data.
CONCLUSIONS
This study demonstrates divergent interests on genital ablation among AMAB individuals who have not had an any genital ablation yet have intense interest in the topic.

A right radical orchiectomy was performed. The histopathological findings showed a well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor with positive synaptophysin and chromogranin A immunostains.

BACKGROUND
Postsurgical pyoderma gangrenosum (PSPG) is a highly uncommon and unpredictable wound healing complication. Rapid progression of ulcers at incisions can cause unfettered dehiscence. Most commonly, PSPG involves breast procedures; however, in this work, we detail a case of a patient who developed PSPG 10 days postoperatively after penile inversion vaginoplasty.
METHODS
The patient in this case underwent a penile inversion vaginoplasty with orchiectomy in the standard fashion. She had no risk factors for PSPG. Following an uncomplicated hospital stay, the patient developed difficulty with pain control and increasing serous drainage on the 10th postoperative day. On readmission, the patient was found to have developed large, mildly purulent ulcers throughout the perineal wound edges. On exam under anesthesia, the neovaginal canal was found to be patent and intact. The dehisced portions of the incisions were left open and redressed with occlusive bismuth-petrolatum dressing. Dermatology was promptly consulted with suspicion for PSPG. The patient was started on an 18-day prednisone taper with cyclosporine, along with doxycycline and ciprofloxacin.
RESULTS
After 5 days of immunosuppressive treatment, the ulcers visibly converted to healthy granulation tissue and were no longer actively purulent. Following another washout, the dehisced wound edges were reapproximated. At follow-up, the patient had no evidence of PSPG recurrence and continued dilating on schedule. Our patient recovered from PSPG without further complications and a satisfactory aesthetic result.
CONCLUSIONS
This unique case highlights the importance of prompt dermatological consultation, immunosuppression, and avoidance of further pathergy in the setting of suspicion for PSPG.

A 27-year-old man experienced discomfort in his right testis in early September, 2021, and visited the hospital five days later. Physical examination did not detect any abnormalities in the scrotum. However, an ultrasound revealed a tumor in the central part of the right testis, and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed a tumor 2.7cm in diameter with clear boundaries and a marginally smooth surface. The level of alpha-fetoprotein, human chorionic gonadotropin, human chorionic gonadotropin-β subunit, and lactate dehydrogenase were within normal limits. A Computed Tomography (CT) scan showed no abnormalities. We can't rule out the possibility of malignancy, right radical orchiectomy was performed with a diagnosis of right testicular tumor in mid-September 2021. The macroscopic lesion was 1.5×1.3 cm in size, and no viable tumorous cells were found pathologically. Atypical cells were observed in the seminiferous tubules from the spermatic cord, which were positively stained with immune-histochemical staining CD117 (c-kit), D2-40, and MIB-1 but negatively with alpha-fetoprotein, human chorionic gonadotropin, and human chorionic gonadotropin-β subunit. The pathological diagnosis was germ cell neoplasia in situ, and no continuity was observed between these cells and bleeding necrosis. The patient has been followed up for 1 year and 4 months after surgery, with no recurrence or metastasis observed.

BACKGROUND
Sex hormones and sex chromosomes play a vital role in cardiovascular disease. Testosterone plays a crucial role in men's health. Lower testosterone level is associated with cardiovascular and cardiometabolic diseases, including inflammation, atherosclerosis, and type 2 diabetes. Testosterone replacement is beneficial or neutral to men's cardiovascular health. Testosterone deficiency is associated with cardiovascular events. Testosterone supplementation to hypogonadal men improves libido, increases muscle strength, and enhances mood. We hypothesized that sex chromosomes (XX and XY) interaction with testosterone plays a role in arterial stiffening.
METHODS
We used four core genotype male mice to understand the inherent contribution of sex hormones and sex chromosome complement in arterial stiffening. Age-matched mice were either gonadal intact or castrated at eight weeks plus an additional eight weeks to clear endogenous sex hormones. This was followed by assessing blood pressure, pulse wave velocity, echocardiography, and ex vivo passive vascular mechanics.
RESULTS
Arterial stiffening but not blood pressure was more significant in castrated than testes-intact mice independent of sex chromosome complement. Castrated mice showed a leftward shift in stress-strain curves and carotid wall thinning. Sex chromosome complement (XX) in the absence of testosterone increased collagen deposition in the aorta and Kdm6a gene expression.
CONCLUSION
Testosterone deprivation increases arterial stiffening and vascular wall remodeling. Castration increases Col1α1 in male mice with XX sex chromosome complement. Our study shows decreased aortic contractile genes in castrated mice with XX than XY sex chromosomes.

The aim of this prospective clinical study was to evaluate the efficacy of the Surgical Pleth Index (SPI), a validated nociception monitor in human anaesthesia, in dogs. The technology uses a plethysmographic signal from a specific pulse oximetry probe to analyse pulse wave amplitudes and heartbeat intervals. Twenty-six healthy dogs anaesthetised for castration were included. SPI, invasive mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were continuously monitored. The occurrence or resolution of a haemodynamic reaction (HDR), defined as a > 20% increase in HR and/or MAP, was assessed at predefined times: cutaneous incision, testicles' exteriorization, cutaneous suture, and fentanyl administration. Following nociceptive events, the dogs presenting a HDR showed a significant 8% and 10% increase in SPI at 3 and 5 min respectively, whereas after fentanyl administration, a 13% and 16% significant decrease in SPI were noted. Receiver operating characteristic curves analysis indicated a moderate performance for the dynamic variations of SPI over 1 min to predict a HDR (AUC: 0.68, threshold value: +15%) or its resolution after fentanyl administration (AUC of 0.72, threshold value: -15%) within 3 min. The SPI varied according to perioperative nociceptive events and analgesic treatment; however, its performance to anticipate a HDR was limited with high specificity but low sensivity. Refinement of the algorithm to specifically accommodate for the canine species may be warranted. Further studies are required to evaluate the influence of other factors on the performance of this index.

Scrotal masses, whether cystic or solid lesions, are routinely evaluated using ultrasonography. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be used for further investigation in cases with atypical findings, difficult diagnoses, large masses, and/or unclear relationships with the surrounding tissues. Scrotal solid masses are divided into intra- and extra-testicular masses. A staggering 90% of the intratesticular masses are malignant, whereas 75% of extratesticular masses are benign. Extratesticular masses are less common than intratesticular masses; however, some extratesticular masses present characteristic MRI findings. Familiarity with these specific MRI features of extratesticular masses is beneficial to radiologists, as appropriate diagnoses can help avoid unnecessary invasive treatments such as orchiectomy. In this review, we describe fibrous pseudotumors, polyorchidism, adenomatoid tumors, and scrotal leiomyoma as benign paratesticular masses, focusing on their characteristic imaging features on MRI. Although these tumors are extremely rare, their MRI findings are distinctive, and accurate diagnoses can prevent unnecessary orchiectomy. In addition, to demonstrate the pitfalls of diagnosing extratesticular masses, we present a case of seminoma misidentified as extratesticular masses due to large extensions outside the testis. Spermatic cord sarcoma, including rhabdomyosarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, and liposarcoma, and metastasis to the spermatic cord are described as malignant extratesticular masses. This review focused on extratesticular masses and elaborates the imaging findings that can aid in the accurate diagnosis using MRI.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE
Polyorchidism, or supernumerary testis, is a rare urogenital congenital disorder. Because of its rarity, there is no approved standard treatment protocol for preserving or removing the extra testicle, yet orchiopexy is frequently performed as a preferred treatment in most medical facilities.
CASE PRESENTATION
We present a 23-year-old single male with a bilaterally empty scrotum. He was unaware of his condition and had not seen a doctor before being admitted to our surgical unit. During his younger sibling's circumcision by a local circumcisionist (a medical staff member, idealy a nurse, whose duty is to perform circumcision, preferably at home), he saw something different (his emptey scrotum) and came to us with his problem. Laboratory findings revealed severe oligospermia, and tumor markers (Alpha fetoprotein, beta-human chorionic gonadotropin, and lactate dehydrogenase) were negative for malignancy. The patient underwent bilateral herniorrhaphy and orchiopexy of all six testicles (three in each inguinal canal) and had an uneventful recovery.
CLINICAL DISCUSSION
As polyorchidism is not a common problem, its management remains a contentious issue due to the lack of evidence-based consensus. However, with the introduction of new imaging modalities and on-table frozen section biopsy, the decision to continue with orchiopexy or orchiectomy can be easily justified; however, conservative treatment is preferable in cases of no coexisting anomalies, particularly cryptorchidism.
CONCLUSION
Polyorchidism could run unnoticed for years, especially if there is no direct and consistent access to a medical facility. In cases where polyorchidism is detected accidentally by imaging or during surgical exploration, the treatment must be justified accordingly.

Neutering dogs is a widespread method and is carried out for various behavioural and husbandry reasons. This study's main objective is to investigate the behavioural correlations between neutering and the breed of male dogs. In order to possibly find breed-dependent differences in the behaviour of intact and castrated dogs, a differentiation between two clades - the "Huskies"(chow chow, shar pei, akita/shiba inu, alaskan malamute, siberian/alaskan husky) and the "Bulldogs" (german boxer, english/french bulldog, old english mastiff, boston terrier, english bull terrier, staffordshire bull terrier, american staffordshire terrier), based on Parker et al. [1], was made.Using an online questionnaire,, 31 neutered and 37 intact male dogs from the clade "Huskies" and 30 neutered and 38 intact male dogs from the clade "Bulldogs", participated in the study (N = 136).The survey included detailed questions on the dogs' personality and any associated issues as well as a behavioural anamnesis. Further questions relating to four of the "big five" personality dimensions based on the "Budapest questionnaire" by Turcsán et al. from 2011 [2] were also added.The results show, that neutered males from both breed clades more frequently displayed aggression toward humans than intact males (multinomial logistic regression, p = 0.002). When it came to aggression towards other dogs, it was the "Huskies" that differed significantly from the "Bulldogs"(multinomial logistic regression, p = 0.04) with being more aggressive. There were also significant differences in stress-related behaviour depending on castration status and breed (multinomial logistic regression, p < 0.001; Cramer's V = 0.33) and only the castration status had an impact on the significance (multinomial logistic regression, p < 0.001). The analysis also revealed significance for stress-indicating behaviour with dependence on neutering status (multinomial logistic regression, p < 0.001) and showed that stress as well as uncertainty are significantly more common in neutered dogs depending on breed and neutering status (multinomial logistic regression, p < 0.001; Cramer's V = 0.42), in that only neutered "Bulldogs" were stressed, but more "Huskies" overall.According to the Budapest questionnaire data, the "Bulldog" clade had considerably greater extraversion scores overall (ordinal regression, p < 0.001) than the "Huskies".Our findings highlight the risks and potential negative effects of neutering. Gonadectomy in no way substitutes for the dog receiving the necessary socialization, training, or bonding. Although in some circumstances it might have a favourable impact on the dog's behaviour, it should not be seen as a panacea for unwanted behaviour. Given that not all behaviours are influenced by sex hormones, every castration decision must be weighed up individually.
