BACKGROUND
In the issue of biodiversity, the domestication of birds as pets and trade animals requires special attention as a conservation effort. Lovebirds ( ) are popular birds worldwide, due to their varied ornamentation and melodic chirping sound. Syrinx structure is suspected to be the main source of sound production during the chirping period. This study aimed to investigate syrinx morphometry and its correlation with sound frequency produced in lovebirds.
METHODS
A total of 24 lovebirds of different ages and gender were investigated. Polymerase chain reaction method was performed to determine lovebird gender, meanwhile bird age was identified based on post-hatch recordings at the breeding farm. Thus, we enrolled male (n=12) and female (n=12) lovebirds aged 2 (n=4), 3 (n=4), and 4 (n=4) months in the investigation group, respectively. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) was performed to evaluate sound frequency during chirping period. Then, syrinx morphometry was identified using a topographic approach and methylene blue staining. Each variable was evaluated with Image J software and vernier caliper.
RESULTS
Based on a topographical approach, we reported the general cartilage structure of the tracheosyringeal, bronchosyringeal, paired protrusions, tracheolateral muscles, sternotracheal muscles, and syringeal muscles in lovebird syrinx. In particular, the tympaniform membranes lateral lead a crucial role in modulating the frequency of male lovebirds more significantly (p=0,009) compared to female. On the other hand, the tympaniform membranes lateral dexter (p=0,02) and sinister (p=0,05) in females showed wider compared to male. We also reported a negative correlation between sound frequency compared to tympaniform membranes lateral dexter (y = -913,56x + 6770,8) and sinister (y = -706,16x + 5736).
CONCLUSIONS
It can be concluded that the tympaniform membranes lateral produced the lovebirds' primary sound. The sound frequency of male lovebirds was higher compared to female, however negatively correlated with the area of tympaniform membranes lateral.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Comparative evaluation of the efficacy of Nigella sativa (75% v/v) cream and clobetasol propionate (0.05% w/w) gel in oral lichen planus-a double-blinded randomized control trial.
OBJECTIVES
The a im of this study is to evaluate and compare the efficacy of Nigella sativa (75% v/v) cream and clobetasol propionate (0.05% w/w) gel for the management of oral lichen planus (OLP).
STUDY DESIGN
Sixty clinically diagnosed cases of OLP were stratified into moderate cases or severe cases based on burning sensation before getting allocated to group I receiving Nigella sativa cream and group II receiving clobetasol propionate gel, two times a day for 45 days. Patients were examined every 15 days for a change in burning sensation and size of the lesion using the numeric pain rating scale (NRS) and a standard Vernier caliper, respectively. Statistical tests including Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon signed-rank, Friedman's, Dunn's post hoc, unpaired t, paired t, one-way repeated measures ANOVA, and Bonferroni's post hoc were applied.
RESULTS
There was a statistically significant reduction in the burning sensation as well as the size of the lesion in both groups (P ≤ 0.05). There was an 87.8% (moderate cases) and 85.7% (severe cases) reduction in the mean NRS scores on the 45th day in group I when compared to the 96.5% (moderate cases) and 93.48% (severe cases) in group II. There was a 92.9% (moderate cases) and 90.7% (severe cases) reduction in the size of the lesion in group I when compared to the 92.6% (moderate cases) and 93.1% (severe cases) in group II.
CONCLUSION
The topical application of Nigella sativa cream was effective and comparable to clobetasol propionate 0.05% gel in the management of OLP, without any side effects. Hence, this study recommends the use of topical Nigella sativa cream therapy in the management of OLP.
CLINICAL RELEVANCE
The current mainstay of treatment for OLP is the administration of topical or systemic corticosteroids, which are known to cause side effects, demanding a search for an alternative. Nigella sativa oil cream could be a safe, promising, cost-effective, adjunctive, or alternative modality. Clinical trial registration number: CTRI/2020/07/026745 (India).

INTRODUCTION
This study aimed to investigate the difference between senior dental students and prosthodontic faculty members regarding their opinions, attitudes and adoption of six split-cast techniques for remounting complete dentures. The accuracy of each technique for measurements of the vertical and the anteroposterior dimensions was assessed.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Six split-cast techniques to remove the casts were compared. A total of 115 participants removed a set of casts on six different articulators, and a questionnaire survey was administered. A digital Vernier caliper was used to measure the linear dimensional changes between the laterally pindexed references on each cast. The data were statistically analysed at α = 0.05.
RESULTS
There were significant differences between senior dental students and prosthodontic faculty members in their responses regarding adoption of daily practice and techniques requiring more skill (p = .001). To adopt a specific technique in daily practice, most students and faculty members chose long round die pins (36.4%) and central groove indexing (CGI; 40.7%), respectively. For techniques requiring more skills, most students and faculty members chose long rectangular die pins (30.7%) and short round dowel pins (33.3%), respectively.
CONCLUSION
Dental students preferred ShRP, whilst faculty members preferred LReP. All participants considered CGI to be the easiest amongst the techniques. For comparison with baseline measurements, both senior dental students and prosthodontic faculty members considered side notch indexing and double dowel pins to be the most accurate techniques for vertical measurements, and CGI for anteroposterior measurements.
