Review
Corneal keratopigmentation (KTP) has a long history of use in management of patients suffering from disfiguring corneal opacities. Due to progresses and modifications in KTP surgical techniques and its low rate of complications, it is taken into consideration to be used in selected groups of patients for therapeutic or functional indications. In this paper we present an overview on clinical applications of KTP in both cosmetic and functional aspects and also, we discuss the outcomes of KTP and its characteristics in experimental and histopathological studies.

Review
The nose is the central organ of the face. It has two essential roles, aesthetic and breathing. It is often seriously damaged in the context of facial burns, causing grotesque facial disfigurement. As this disfigurement is visible on frontal and profile views, the patient suffers both socially and psychologically. The nose is a three-dimensional organ. Reconstruction is therefore more difficult and needs to be more precise than in other parts of the face. Maintaining symmetry, contour and function are essential for successful nasal reconstruction. Multiple factors determine the optimal method of reconstruction, including the size of the defect, its depth and its site. Satisfactory social life is recovered only after multiple surgical procedures and long-term rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

Review
Keloids are pathological scars extending beyond the initial wound's natural borders. The condition occurs as a result of impaired wound healing with excessive collagen deposition. Keloid scars frequently recur, rarely regress, and have a tendency to grow over time. They are aesthetically disfiguring and can be devastating for patients, both physically and emotionally. This review finds that prevention and early intervention are essential for good results. Treatment is often challenging. There are no standardized management guidelines currently available but a combinational therapeutic approach appears to be beneficial.

Review
Exogenous ochronosis (EO) is a cutaneous disorder characterized by blue-black pigmentation resulting as a complication of long-term application of skin-lightening creams containing hydroquinone but may also occur due to topical contact with phenol or resorcinol in dark-skinned individuals. It can also occur following the use of systemic antimalarials such as quinine. EO is clinically and histologically similar to its endogenous counterpart viz., alkaptonuria, which, however, exhibits systemic effects and is an inherited disorder. Dermoscopy and in vivo skin reflectance confocal microscopy are noninvasive in vivo diagnostic tools. It is very difficult to treat EO, a cosmetically disfiguring and troubling disorder with disappointing treatment options.

Review
Burn injuries in children can result in life-long disfigurement. As medical and surgical techniques of burn management improve survival prospects more than ever before, body image adjustment is increasingly a central consideration in the care of burn-injured individuals. An appreciation that both physiological and psychosocial processes underpin such injuries is key to understanding wound healing. Perceptions of idealized body images in Western society challenge children and their families as they grow up with and adapt to disfigurement from burns. Whilst many studies have examined the psychosocial recovery of adults with burn injuries, few have considered the impact on burn-injured children. This paper explores the models of body image and discusses the relevance of these to research and practice in understanding how to manage burns in children.

Review
Most people would like to change something about their bodies and the way that they look, but for some it becomes an obsession. A healthy skin plays an important role in a person's physical and mental wellbeing, whereas a disfiguring appearance is associated with body image concerns. Skin diseases such as acne, psoriasis and vitiligo produce cosmetic disfigurement and patients suffering these and other visible skin conditions have an increased risk of depression, anxiety, feelings of stigmatization and self-harm ideation. Body image affects our emotions, thoughts, and behaviours in everyday life, but, above all, it influences our relationships. Furthermore, it has the potential to influence our quality of life. Promotion of positive body image is highly recommended, as it is important in improving people's quality of life, physical health, and health-related behaviors. Dermatologists have a key role in identifying body image concerns and offering patients possible treatment options.

Review
Graves' orbitopathy (GO) is a complex autoimmune disorder of the orbit that causes the eye to appear disfigured. GO is typically associated with Graves' disease, an inflammatory autoimmune condition that is caused by thyrotropin receptor autoantibodies. Although our knowledge of the pathophysiology of GO has improved, its exact pathogenesis remains unclear. Some patients suffer from disfigurement, double vision, and even vision loss rather than hyperthyroidism. The disease severity and activity prompt different treatments, as the signs of GO are heterogeneous, so their management can be very complex. Despite medical advances, the first-line treatment for moderate-to-severe active GO is still glucocorticoids, while surgery can be critical for the treatment of chronic inactive GO. Surgery is sometimes required in the acute phase of the disease when there is an immediate risk to vision, such as in dysthyroid optic neuropathy. Most surgeries for GO are rehabilitative and subdivided into three categories: decompression, strabismus repair, and lid surgery. This review is a basic overview of the field, with up-to-date knowledge of the surgical techniques for GO. We review and summarize recent literature on the advances in surgery for GO to provide up-to-date insights on the optimal surgical treatment for GO.

CASE PRESENTATION
We describe the case of a 38-year-old female patient with a history of lupus presenting with atraumatic abdominal pain and ecchymosis. The ultimate diagnosis of abdominal lupus erythematous panniculitis was determined based on physical exam and imaging findings.
DISCUSSION
Lupus erythematous panniculitis is a rare diagnosis, but consideration is important as early recognition and treatment is important to reduce pain and lessen the possibility of irreversible disfigurement and unnecessary costs to affected patients.

Patients with rheumatologic conditions can have complex dermatologic manifestations. In addition, immunosuppressing treatment for autoimmune disorders can also increase incidence of infectious complications. Skin conditions in rheumatologic patients present particular challenges and this case highlights a rare infectious complication.
