Nursing research has a tremendous influence on current and future professional nursing practice, thus rendering it an essential component of the educational process. This article chronicles the learning experiences of two undergraduate nursing students who were provided with the opportunity to become team members in a study funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research. The application process, the various learning opportunities and responsibilities performed by the students, and the benefits and outcomes of the experience are described. The authors hope that by sharing their learning experiences, more students will be given similar opportunities using the strategies presented in this article. Nursing research is critical to the nursing profession and is necessary for continuing advancements that promote optimal nursing care.

Nurses have been required to provide more patient-centered, efficient, and cost effective care. In order to do so, they need to work at the top of their license. We conducted a time motion study to document nursing activities on communication, hands-on tasks, and locations (where activities occurred), and compared differences between different time blocks (7am-11am, 11am-3pm, and 3pm-7pm). We found that nurses spent most of their time communicating with patients and in patient rooms. Nurses also spent most of their time charting and reviewing information in EHR, mostly at the nursing station. Nurses' work was not distributed equally across a 12-hour shift. We found that greater frequency and duration in hands-on tasks occurred between 7am-11am. In addition, nurses spent approximately 10% of their time on delegable and non-nursing activities, which could be used more effectively for patient care. The study results provide evidence to assist nursing leaders to develop strategies for transforming nursing practice through re-examination of nursing work and activities, and to promote nurses working at top of license for high quality care and best outcomes. Our research also presents a novel and quantifiable method to capture data on multidimensional levels of nursing activities.

Review
BACKGROUND
An accurate handover of clinical information is of great importance to continuity and safety of care. If clinically relevant information is not shared accurately and in a timely manner it may lead to adverse events, delays in treatment and diagnosis, inappropriate treatment and omission of care. During the last decade the call for interventions to improve handovers has increased. These interventions aim to reduce the risk of miscommunication, misunderstanding and the omission of critical information.
OBJECTIVES
To determine the effectiveness of interventions designed to improve hospital nursing handover, specifically:to identify which nursing handover style(s) are associated with improved outcomes for patients in the hospital setting and which nursing handover style(s) are associated with improved nursing process outcomes.
SEARCH METHODS
We searched the following electronic databases for primary studies: Cochrane EPOC Group specialised register (to 19 September 2012), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) (to 1 March 2013), MEDLINE (1950 to 1 March 2013) OvidSP, EMBASE (1947 to 1 March 2013) OvidSP, CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) (1980 to 1 March 2013) EbscoHost and ISI Web of Knowledge (Science Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Index) (to 9 July 2012). The Database of Abstracts of Reviews (DARE) was searched for related reviews. We screened the reference lists of included studies and relevant reviews. We also searched the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) http://www.who.int/ictrp/en/ and Current Controlled Trials www.controlled-trials.com/mrct and we conducted a search of grey literature web sites.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Randomised controlled trials (RCTs or cluster-RCTs) evaluating any nursing handover style between nurses in a hospital setting with the aim of preventing adverse events or optimising the transfer of accurate essential information required for continuity of care, or both.
DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Two review authors independently assessed trial quality and extracted data.
MAIN RESULTS
The search identified 2178 citations, 28 of which were considered potentially relevant. After independent review of the full text of these studies, no eligible studies were identified for inclusion in this review due to the absence of studies with a randomised controlled study design.
AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS
There was no evidence available to support conclusions about the effectiveness of nursing handover styles for ensuring continuity of information in hospitalised patients because we found no studies that fulfilled the methodological criteria for this review. As a consequence, uncertainty about the most effective practice remains. Research efforts should focus on strengthening the evidence abut the effectiveness of nursing handover styles using well designed, rigorous studies. According to current knowledge, the following guiding principles can be applied when redesigning the nursing handover process: face-to-face communication, structured documentation, patient involvement and use of IT technology to support the process.

Revista Latino-americana de Enfermagem 2019to relate nonspecific low back pain within the nursing work context with their workloads, attrition processes and the risks of illness.
OBJECTIVE
to relate nonspecific low back pain within the nursing work context with their workloads, attrition processes and the risks of illness.
METHOD
a cross-sectional study with 301 workers from a general hospital in the south of the country. The Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire and the Work Context Assessment Scale composed of three dimensions were used: working conditions, work organization and socio-professional relations. The association of variables with low back pain was tested using bivariate and multivariate analyzes. The measure of association used was the Odds Ratio and its respective intervals with 95% confidence. The data collected were discussed under the theoretical framework of the work process within the marxist conception and the theory of social determination of the health-disease process.
RESULTS
there was a statistically significant association between the dimensions of work organization and working conditions with low back pain and they obtained a critical classification meaning moderate risks to the professional illness.
CONCLUSION
the study allowed a better understanding of the nursing work process and its relation with nonspecific low back pain and signaled that changes in the organization and working conditions should occur in order to reduce the risks of nursing workers' illness.

Review
Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) are leaders in clinical practice, systems-level care delivery, nursing practice, and policy. The challenge is that in the current environment, their leadership is not highlighted. With the national shortage of palliative care clinicians, APRN leaders will be necessary to care for all the patients and their families with serious illness. While many programs describe their APRNs as leader in clinical care, there is not much written about their leadership in other areas. This paper provides a description of APRN palliative care leadership and opportunities across all domains of clinical care, education, advocacy/policy, research, and administration/management.

Review
OBJECTIVE
To analyze the single therapeutic project and the nursing process regarding its specificities and intersection points from the interdisciplinary care perspective. METHODIntegrative review of the literature from articles available in the Lilacs, SciELO, MEDLINE and PubMed databases, published in Portuguese, English and Spanish from 2005 to 2015.
RESULTS
It was identified 23 articles. From these, 17 on the nursing process, six on the single therapeutic project and one about multiprofessional residency. From the analysis, their specificities and intersection points that describe the alignment and similarities between them were identified in the primary and mental health cares.
CONCLUSIONS
The single therapeutic project and the nursing process are aligned in health practices in primary and mental health cares. The multiprofessional residency allows this alignment among them, and the nurse contributes to the interdisciplinary care with the nursing process.

Neurosurgery is mainly for the treatment of head trauma, cerebrovascular disease, brain tumors, and spinal cord disorders. These operations are difficult and risky, so disability and mortality are high. To reduce the risk of surgery, reduce postoperative complications, and improve the treatment effect of patients, this article applies deep learning and microscopic imaging to the nursing process of neurosurgery. Through deep learning and microscopic imaging, doctors can learn about patients during surgery. The specific situation of the trauma site, after which surgery is performed according to the situation, effectively reduces the casualties, reduces the loss of patients, and provides a reference for the research of neurosurgery nursing. Research results prove that deep learning and microscopic imaging can play an important role in the nursing process of neurosurgery. Compared with conventional treatment methods, microscopic imaging treatment can effectively improve the treatment effect, and the operation time for patients is less than that of conventional treatment. About 20% and the incidence of postoperative complications is lower than 30%, which can effectively reduce the cost to patients and improve the quality of treatment.

Revista Da Escola de Enfermagem Da U S P 2021To know the nursing team work process in Children and Adolescents Psychosocial Care Centers in a city of the state of São Paulo.
OBJECTIVE
To know the nursing team work process in Children and Adolescents Psychosocial Care Centers in a city of the state of São Paulo.
METHOD
This is a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study, based on the approach of historical and dialectical materialism, carried out with the nursing team through participant observation and semi-structured interviews.
RESULTS
Eleven subjects from the nursing team participated in the study. The nursing team work process emerges from the dialectical tension of two categories: the non-knowledge, based on the alienation of the nursing work process and subordination to the knowledge of the multidisciplinary team, and the knowledge based on the nursing clinic outlined within the biological and relational perspectives.
CONCLUSION
The nursing team work process takes place when guided by a non-knowledge resulting from alienation due to the knowledge of the other, and by knowledge through the implementation of the Nursing Process through the Nursing Care Systematization based on a biological perspective, considering relational and administrative aspects, which emerges as a contradiction.

Review
AIMS
This review study aimed to investigate the strategies for implementing the nursing process in the clinical practice and the assessment of the implementation rate of this process in clinical settings of lower-income countries.
DESIGN
An integrative review.
METHOD
The search was conducted of EMBASE, MEDLINE, CINAHL, Scopus and ISI databases from 1975-July 2018. Following the formation of the research team, two researchers independently selected the eligible studies; finally, 39 articles were approved by the research team for this study.
RESULTS
The researchers identified three themes: Effects of implementing the NP in clinical settings, Development and application of electronic software in the NP and Factors affecting the implementation of the NP. This review revealed that nurses and nursing managers in hospitals are interested in implementing the nursing process in the form of widely and continuously. But the necessary infrastructure, such as manpower, electronically or manually tools, has not yet been provided, and the implementation of the nursing process is done either imperfectly or not done.
