(arcanobacterium pyogenes) A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram positive bacteria assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. This bacteria is catalase and oxidase negative, ferments lactose, produces the exotoxin Pyolysin O and neuraminidases and is hemolytic.
