Definitions related to northern blotting:
-
A common molecular biology procedure for detection of RNA molecules. RNA extracted from a sample was denatured and separated by slab gel electrophoresis, then blotted on to a nitrocellulose or nylon sheet and hybridized with labeled DNA or RNA that is complementary to the desired RNA, whose presence is subsequently indicated by autoradiography or other visualization techniques.NCI ThesaurusU.S. National Cancer Institute, 2021
-
Method of identifying RNA by DNA hybridization after electrophoresis and transfer to nitrocellulose or other fixative.CRISP ThesaurusNational Institutes of Health, 2006
-
(blotting, northern) Detection of RNA that has been electrophoretically separated and immobilized by blotting on nitrocellulose or other type of paper or nylon membrane followed by hybridization with labeled NUCLEIC ACID PROBES.NLM Medical Subject HeadingsU.S. National Library of Medicine, 2021
