The cyclocopolymerization of ,-diallylglycine hydrochloride, maleic acid and 1,1,4,4-tetraallylpiperazinium dichloride afforded a cross-linked polyzwitterionic acid, which, upon treatment with NaOH, gave the corresponding cross-linked anionic polyelectrolyte (CAPE) in quantitative yield. The pH-responsive resins contained a high density of CO motifs as well as the chelating motifs of glycine residues. The resin CAPE was found to be a super-adsorbent for the removal of pararosaniline hydrochloride (PRH); having a of 1534 mg/g. The adsorption process followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and was found to be a nearly irreversible process as suggested by the parameters obtained from Elovich kinetic model. The resin demonstrated excellent adsorption/desorption efficiencies, thereby ensuring its recycling and reuse in potent applications like remediation of industrial dye-waste water. The resin's chelating motifs were also efficient in the adsorptive removal of Cd(II) ions with a of 248 mg/g. It was also employed for the simultaneous and effective trapping of Cd(II) and the dye from industrial wastewater. The resin's impressive performance accords it a prestigious place among many sorbents in recent works.

Coronary microembolization (CME) commonly develops as a complication after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and associated inflammation is a leading driver of myocardial damage. Cardiomyocyte loss in the context of ischemic myocardial disease has been linked to inflammatory pyroptotic cell death. Additionally, miR-200a-3p dysregulation has been linked to myocardial ischemia-reperfusion and many other pathological conditions. However, how miR-200a-3p impacts cardiomyocyte pyroptosis in the context of CME remains to be assessed. Herein, a rat model of CME was established via the injection of microembolic spheres into the left ventricle. When myocardial tissue samples from these rats were analyzed, miR-200a-3p levels were markedly decreased, whereas thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) levels were increased. The ability of miR-200a-3p to directly target TXNIP and to control its expression was confirmed via dual-luciferase reporter assay. Adeno-associated virus serotype 9-pre-miR-200a-3p (AAV-miR-200a-3p) construct transfection was then employed as a means of upregulating this miRNA in CME model rats. Subsequent assays, including echocardiography, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining, hematoxylin-basic fuchsin-picric acid (HBFP) staining, TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) staining, immunofluorescence staining, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and Western blotting revealed that miR-200a-3p overexpression inhibited cardiomyocyte pyroptosis and alleviated CME-induced myocardial injury by inhibiting the TXNIP/NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) pathway. The ability of miR-200a-3p to protect against CME-induced myocardial injury thus highlights a novel approach to preventing or treating such myocardial damage in clinical settings.

BACKGROUND
Due to the multitude industrial applications of ligninolytic enzymes, their demands are increasing. Partial purification and intensive characterization of contemporary highly acidic laccase enzyme produced by an Egyptian local isolate designated Alcaligenes faecalis NYSO were studied in the present investigation.
RESULTS
Alcaligenes faecalis NYSO laccase has been partially purified and intensively biochemically characterized. It was noticed that 40-60% ammonium sulfate saturation showed maximum activity. A protein band with an apparent molecular mass of ~ 50 kDa related to NYSO laccase was identified through SDS-PAGE and zymography. The partially purified enzyme exhibited maximum activity at 55 °C and pH suboptimal (2.5-5.0). Remarkable activation for enzyme activity was recognized after 10-min exposure to temperatures (T) 50, 60, and 70 °C; time elongation caused inactivation, where ~ 50% of activity was lost after a 7-h exposure to 60 °C. Some metal ions Cu, Zn, Co Ni, Mn, Cd, Cr, and Mg caused strong stimulation for enzyme activity, but Fe and Hg reduced the activity. One millimolar of chelating agents [ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), sodium citrate, and sodium oxalate] caused strong activation for enzyme activity. Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), cysteine-HCl, dithiothreitol (DTT), β-mercaptoethanol, thioglycolic acid, and sodium azide caused strong inhibition for NYSO laccase activity even at low concentration. One millimolar of urea, imidazole, kojic acid, phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF), HO, and Triton X-100 caused activation. The partially purified NYSO laccase had decolorization activity towards different dyes such as congo red, crystal violet, methylene blue, fast green, basic fuchsin, bromophenol blue, malachite green, bromocresol purple eriochrome black T, and Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250 with various degree of degradation. Also, it had a vast range of substrate specificity including lignin, but with high affinity towards p-anisidine.
CONCLUSION
The promising properties of the newly studied laccase enzyme from Alcaligenes faecalis NYSO strain would support several industries such as textile, food, and paper and open the possibility for commercial use in water treatment. It will also open the door to new applications due to its ligninolytic properties in the near future.

Photocatalysis has attracted wide attention due to its outstanding advantages in dealing with sewage. And compounds of metal oxides and g-CN that possess Z-type heterojunctions have become the star photocatalysts in degrading pollutants. In this paper, a novel one-step method for the preparation of highly efficient photocatalyst of FeO/g-CN, using Fe (NO) and urea as raw materials, is described. Under the optimized condition, the one-step synthesized photocatalyst of FeGCN-0.10 showed higher photocatalytic performance compared with the multi-step prepared photocatalyst, and the rate of removing basic fuchsin was 92% (210 min), which was 19.5% higher than that of the latter. Furthermore, different methods were also applied for characterizing FeO/g-CN Structural characterization results confirmed the composites of FeO/g-CN. Morphological characterization results showed that spindle-like FeO particles were distributed more evenly on the layered g-CN compared with the impregnation method. Optical characterization results demonstrated the high intensity of the separated photo-generated electron-hole pairs and of FeO/g-CN, which uncovered the removing mechanism of basic fuchsin.

Exercise preconditioning (EP) has a good myocardial protective effect. This study explored whether EP improves electrocardiographic (ECG) signs of myocardial ischemic/hypoxic injury and the occurrence of malignant arrhythmia after exhaustive exercise. A total of 120 male SD rats were randomly divided into the control group (group C), early exercise preconditioning group (group EEP), late exercise preconditioning group (group LEP), exhaustive exercise group (group EE), early exercise preconditioning + exhaustive exercise group (group EEP + EE) and late exercise preconditioning + exhaustive exercise group (group LEP + EE). Changes in heart rate (HR), ST segment, T wave and QT corrected (QTc) intervals on ECG; hematoxylin-basic fuchsin-picric acid (HBFP) staining; and cTnI levels were used to study myocardial injury and the protective effect of EP. Compared with those in group C, the levels of plasma markers of myocardial injury, HBFP staining and ECG in group EE were significantly increased (P < 0.05). Compared with those in group EE, the levels of plasma markers of myocardial injury, HBFP staining and ECG in group EEP + EE and group LEP + EE were significantly decreased (P < 0.05). The results suggested that EP improved ECG signs of myocardial ischemic/hypoxic injury and malignant arrhythmias that occur after exhaustive exercise. The ST segment and T wave could also serve as indexes for evaluating exhaustive exercise-induced myocardial ischemia/hypoxia.

This article reports the synthesis of PbO doped MgZnO (PbO@MgZnO) by a co-precipitation method, followed by an ultrasonication process. PbO@MgZnO demonstrates a significant adsorption capability toward Magenta Dye (MD). The greatest adsorption capability was optimized by varying parameters such as pH, MD concentration, and adsorbent dose. The kinetics study illustrates that the adsorption of MD on PbO@MgZnO follows the pseudo-second-order. The isotherm study revealed that Langmuir is best fitted for the adsorption, but with little difference in the R value of Langmuir and Freundlich, the adsorption process cloud be single or multi-layer. The maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 333.33 mg/g. The negative ΔG refers to the spontaneity of MD adsorption on PbO@MgZnO. The steric parameters from statistical physics models also favor the multi-layer adsorption mechanism. As a function of solution temperature, the parameter pattern has values of = 0.395, 0.290, and 0.280 for 298, 308, and 318 K, respectively (i.e., all values were below 1). Therefore, horizontal molecule positioning and multiple locking mechanisms were implicated during interactions between MD and PbO@MgZnO active sites.

OBJECTIVES
One of the important features of the restorative materials is the ability to seal and prevent the microleakage. Glass ionomer cement (GIC) still exhibits some microleakage despite establishing a chemical bond to the tooth. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of nanographene oxide (nGO) on the microleakage of conventional (CGIC) and resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC).
METHODS
Thirty intact extracted molars were used. Class V cavities were prepared on their buccal and lingual surfaces. The samples randomly divided into two main groups of CGIC and RMGIC; each of them was randomly subdivided into three subgroups, including the group without nGO (control), the group with 1% nGO, and the group with 2% nGO. After restoring the cavities, they were subjected to thermocycling (1,000 cycles at 5/55°C). Two percent basic fuchsin solution was used to perform the microleakage test, and then the sectioned samples were examined by a stereomicroscope 40x. Kruskal-Wallis test, Dunn's test, and Mann-Whitney test were used to analyze the data ( < 0.05).
RESULTS
Group CGIC + 1% nGO at the gingival margin and group RMGIC + 1% nGO at both gingival and occlusal margins had significantly less microleakage than their control groups (=0.008, =0.002, =0.023, respectively). Also, in these two groups, there were no significant differences between the microleakage of the occlusal and gingival margins (=0.132, =0.511, respectively), while in all other groups, the gingival microleakage was significantly higher than that of occlusal microleakage.
CONCLUSIONS
The addition of 1% nGO significantly reduced the gingival microleakage of CGIC and the occlusal and the gingival microleakage of RMGIC, while the addition of 2% nGO did not cause a significant reduction in microleakage.

BACKGROUND
Coronary microembolization (CME) is a complicated problem that commonly arises in the context of coronary angioplasty. MicroRNAs play crucial roles in cardiovascular diseases. However, the role and mechanism of miR-181a-5p in CME-induced myocardial injury remains unclear.
METHODS
We established CME rat models. Cardiac function was detected by echocardiography. Haematoxylin-basic fuchsin-picric acid staining was used to measure micro-infarction size. Serum samples and cell culture supernatants were evaluated via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Cellular reactive oxygen species were determined by dichloro-dihydro-fluorescein diacetate assay, and the other oxidative stress related parameters were assayed by spectrophotometry. The dual-luciferase reporter (DLR) assay and RNA pulldown were conducted to validate the association between miR-181a-5p and X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP). The expression of miR-181a-5p and XIAP mRNA were determined by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Proteins were evaluated via immunoblotting. The viability of the cell was evaluated via cell counting kit-8 assay.
RESULTS
The miR-181a-5p level was significantly increased in CME myocardial tissues. Downregulation of miR-181a-5p improved CME-induced cardiac dysfunction and alleviated myocardial oxidative stress and inflammatory injury, whereas miR-181a-5p exhibited the opposite effects. Then, the DLR assay and RNA pulldown results revealed that miR-181a-5p directly targeting on XIAP. The XIAP level was found to be remarkably decreased after CME. XIAP overexpression attenuated CME-induced myocardial oxidative stress and inflammatory injury. Finally, rescue experiments revealed that knockdown of XIAP could abolish the protective effects of miR-181a-5p knockdown on hypoxia-induced cardiomyocyte oxidative stress and inflammatory injury.
CONCLUSIONS
Downregulation of miR-181a-5p alleviates CME-induced myocardial damage by suppressing myocardial oxidative stress and inflammation through directly targeting XIAP.

Crosslinked chitosan-montmorillonite composite and its magnetized counterpart for the removal of basic fuchsin from wastewater: Parametric optimization using Box-Behnken design.
Treating wastewater polluted with organic dyestuffs is still a challenge. In that vein, facile synthesis of a structurally simple composite of chitosan with montmorillonite (CS-MMT) using glutaraldehyde as a crosslinker and the magnetized analogue (MAG@CS-MMT) was proposed as versatile adsorbents for the cationic dye, basic Fuchsin (FUS). Statistical modeling of the adsorption process was mediated using Box-Behnken (BB) design and by varying the composite dose, pH, [FUS], and contact time. Characterization of both composites showed an enhancement of surface features upon magnetization, substantiating a better FUS removal of the MAG@CS-MMT (%R = 98.43 %) compared to CS-MMT (%R = 68.02 %). The surface area analysis demonstrates that MAG@CS-MMT possesses a higher surface area, measuring 41.54 m/g, and the surface analysis of the magnetized nanocomposite, conducted using FT-IR and Raman spectroscopies, proved the presence of FeO peaks. In the same context, adsorption of FUS onto MAG@CS-MMT fitted-well to the Langmuir isotherm model and the maximum adsorption capacities (q) were 53.11 mg/g for CS-MMT and 88.34 mg/g for MAG@CS-MMT. Kinetics investigation shows that experimental data fitted well to the pseudo-second order (PSO) model. Regeneration study reveals that MAG@CS-MMT can be recovered effectively for repeated use with a high adsorption efficiency for FUS.

The removal of organic dyes in aquatic media is, nowadays, a very pressing environmental problem. These dyes usually come from industries, such as textiles, food, and pharmaceuticals, among others, and their harm is produced by preventing the penetration of solar radiation in the aquatic medium, which leads to a great reduction in the process of photosynthesis, therefore damaging the aquatic ecosystems. The feasibility of implementing a process of nanofiltration in the purification treatment of an aqueous stream with small size dyes has been studied. Six dyes were chosen: Acid Brown-83, Allura Red, Basic Fuchsin, Crystal Violet, Methyl Orange and Sunset Yellow, with similar molecular volume (from 250 to 380 Å). The nanofiltration membrane NF99 was selected. Five of these molecules with different sizes, shapes and charges were employed in order to study the behavior of the membrane for two system characteristic parameters: permeate flux and rejection coefficient. Furthermore, a microscopy study and a behavior analysis of the membrane were carried out after using the largest molecule. Finally, the Spiegler-Kedem-Katchalsky model was applied to simulate the behavior of the membrane on the elimination of this group of dyes.
